No problem.

Step 1:
Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.

Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
Press the Fix button.
The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.

Why is the program "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager Suite" installed ?

Click the Start button and then type cmd in the searchbox. Right-click on cmd that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator.
A User Account Control dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
A command prompt window will open. Copy and paste the following into the command-prompt and hit enter.
wmic service get name,displayname,pathname,startmode,exitcode > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\services.txt"
After the command runs there will be a file on your desktop named services.txt.

It appears to be something that was installed by MSI: Qualcomm Atheros Announces Exclusive Availability of Killer DoubleShot on MSI Gaming Laptops
Unfortunately, it is likely I won't be around until January to make many more changes, but I'll follow up then if we run out of time. Thank you for all the help.

Not sure why. The latest fix looked-up a registry key and changed a service to start automatically.

What is the program "Anki" ?
Uninstall "Brother iPrint&Scan".

Sorry for the slow reply. Weird, shrug. Brother is my printer. Anki was some kind of flashcard software. I unintalled Anki

Before that, Windows did some kind of an install, not sure if it has fixed things by loading something in. I'll try restarting it again and will update if it is somehow working now.

Thanks for being here for the slow saga. While it seemed to work for a moment, a couple restarts later and we're back to the same defender issue. 0x80070490 was the error that the troubleshooter found for windows update. Sigh

Step 2:
Restart the machine.
Run the command sfc /scannow in an elevated commandprompt and report the result.
If it fails attach the file cbs.log to your next reply.
