Windows 8.1 causing crashing every half-hour

I (like many others) am having problems following a series of Windows 8.1 updates. My laptop crashes, suddenly, no BSOD, no dmp files created. The only error critical message I can see in event manager says it shut down unexpectedly.

First started 8 Apr and removing Kb2930275 seemed to solve it, but with a further update on 19/4 KB2959977 which updated KB2919355 for WSUS the system now seems to crash every half-hour to the second. I haven't yet tried uninstalling that... I don't know if I use WSUS but as a home user with no server I think it's unlikely (though who knows what 8.1 sets up!)

Everything else on the laptop seems to work fine. I'm limited as to what tests I can run ie can't run a long memory test due to half-hourly crashes. Also can't run Perfmon - I get the error 'The operator or administrator has refused the request' despite running cmd as administrator.

Any thoughts?

Since your issue seems to stemmed after the installation of some possibly corrupted Windows Updates or some other Windows Update related problem, I would suggest you start in a new thread in the Windows Update section and follow these posting instructions - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/4736-windows-update-forum-posting-instructions.html
