You need to first .zip the CBS.log
You can copy this to your desktop and then right-click on the file and choose SendTo...Compressed (zipped folder). A file will be created named CBS.zip that you can send.

I see why it's not installing. Did you happen to have a Beta version of .NET installed at any time?

Please do the following.

Gather System Info
1. Click the Start button.
2. Type cmd in the search box.
3. Right-click on the cmd.exe that comes up and select Run as administrator.
4. Type or copy/paste the following into the command-prompt window
systeminfo > 1 & notepad 1

5. Notepad will open with some information. Please copy/paste this into your next post.

only thing close i see related to .net is ASP.NET MVC 4 Runtime but if it helps in "turn windows feature off/on there is a .net framework 3.5.1 and the check box is blue

it didnt fix the failed update, and said it couldnt repair, it gave me a bunch of logs from various locations. could this be from a bad hard drive?

Anything is possible and we can certainly check that.

Next step I would like to try is to use the .NET Cleanup Tool. Run this and remove any .NET Framework 4.x. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Go back to the .NET cleanup tool and then remove all .NET Frameworks not just the 4.x ones.

OK, previously I had only asked you to remove the 4.x ones. Since you have already done all of them and are having the same issues, please run the following tool and send me the .cab file it creates located at %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.

Thank you. I've reviewed all the logs and I still believe the reason for the failure is that it is detecting another or newer version of .NET. Very odd. But I was able to obtain some more information (specifically the GUID) that it thinks is installed.

In the following log file I found the following: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Setup_20150602_003447229-MSI_netfx_Core_x64.msi.txt

As a result I would like you to do the following.

FRST Registry Search
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Copy and paste 26784146-6E05-3FF9-9335-786C7C0FB5BE into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.

4. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please copy and paste the contents in your next reply. If for some reason notepad doesn't open the file should be
saved on your desktop named Search.txt.
