Hi,

I get error when updating sp1 windows 7 ultimate. I even follow some help that I read on internet that to install System Update Readiness Tool for Windows7 x64-based system (KB947821). After installation I tried to update sp1 again, I get the same error.

Please help me to fix this problem, thanks in advance.

0x80073712 is never a good sign at all, but let's have a look before we speculate any further.

Upload a file to Dropbox

Note: If you prefer, the same techniques can be applied to your Skydrive however these instructions may not necessarily work for Skydrive.

  1. If you haven't already created a Dropbox account, please do so Here
  2. Although this procedure can be done directly through the website, it is much easier to do so via the Windows client which can be downloaded from the Dropbox website:

    https://www.dropbox.com/install
  3. After you have downloaded and installed that, you should now see Dropbox in your Favourites box in Windows Explorer. This is the folder that will be synchronised with the Dropbox servers, anything that you wish to back up online can be put in here, but today we will be using it to transfer files.

  4. To access your Dropbox folder, just click on the link in the top left hand corner of Windows Explorer (accessible from any location - Documents etc.). Alternatively, you can double click on the icon

    found in your system tray (next to the time). If you are still having issues locating this folder, unless otherwise specified, it can be found under this location: C:\Users\{Your username}\Dropbox
  5. Copy all of the following files to the Public folder in your Dropbox:
    • C:\Windows\system32\config\components (it has no file extension)

  6. Select all files by pressing Ctrl+A then right-click and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
  7. This will create a .zip
    zip_icon.png
    file in your Public folder.
  8. Right-click on this file and select
    icon.jpg
    Copy Public Link then Paste (Ctrl+V) this link into your next post for me please

Then run this FixIt in aggressive mode: You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

Hi Jack,

In your Public folder, you have these two programs:

PC cleaner Pro 2013
RegClean Pro

Firstly, they're illegal and secondly, they're dangerous. You should avoid any form of registry cleaners/optimisers at all costs because they have a very bad reputation of deleting keys/values they weren't meant to. I've personally dealt with a thread a few months ago where PC Cleaner Pro completely killed Windows Update by deleting 2088 registry keys and values it shouldn't have.

I don't know what damage the registry cleaners have done and PC Cleaner Pro has a history of messing with Windows Update, so it's better to wipe the slate clean.
