I'm new to this forum and I thought maybe I can get some help with a problem I'm having with some corrupted CBS.log files that windows can't fix. I discovered these files were corrupted when I couldn't install windows essentials (2012). I ran a sfc scan several times to try to fix the problem but couldn't.View attachment CBS.zip The whole file was too big. So I'm sending you this file. I hope you can help me. Thanks Last edited by a moderator: Nov 6, 2013

So I uninstalled IE 10 and IE 9 (I had to use a microsoft program fix to uninstall IE 9 because I didn't have the windows update file). Since my computer came bundled with IE 8 I figured the problem was with those files. I ran the sfc scan again and windows was able to fix the corrupted files. I reinstalled IE 9 and IE 10 and no more problems!

Please run a CheckSUR scan, and post the log.... Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008 (you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center) Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient. The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file Then zip the CheckSUR.log and attach it to your reply.

I still think it's necessary to run CheckSUR - something must have caused the corruption in the first place, and that may still be present notwithstanding the other changes.
