Windows 7 Desktop Background Personalization Issues

So I want to start off by saying I have googled this issue prior to posting this on here because I try to be one of those that does some research on an issue before I bother the really intelligent people with my minor problems.

My problem is in the Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization window. On the screen where you would change your desktop background basically.
So my screen currently shows at the bottom Desktop Background and under that Slide Show. When I click on the Desktop Background option at the bottom I get the screen to choose a desktop background. I select the drop down under picture location and the one I want is listed and I click on it and click save changes at the bottom. When I do that it shows it as being saved then I go to my desktop as normal and I right click and click on next desktop background and I did that a few times because I've noticed here recently that the same picture or same two pictures are showing up even though I have about five selected. So I clicked on the next desktop background and sure enough it only shows two photos no matter how many times I click it.
So I go back to the Desktop Background >> Picture Location drop down and click a different option and save it and I was able to get it to switch to different photos with no problems. So I go back to the first option in the drop down list and save it and the same two pictures show up.
So I think well let me move them to another folder on my computer and point it to that location. Same problem.
I think well let me not include those two photos in the options selected then it picked two other photos. The photos aren't hidden, blocked, or read only.
So I go into the registry and delete the options listed under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpapers\Images
However upon closing everything out I go back into the Personalization > Desktop Background window I go to picture location and there is one still there. The one that is having the issue even though nothing is listed under that path in the registry.
So I change it up completely by clicking on solid colors and saving the changes.
I end the explorer.exe process and start it again. I go back to the Personalization >> Desktop Background and try to 1) select one of the preloaded options (Pictures Library) / well now it won't change at all even though I click Save changes it changes right back on the Personalization screen to Solid Colors. I go back in (2) and try to click one the picture location option that was having issues before and hit save changes and it defaults back to solid colors.

So I restart the PC completely.
Log back in and its still on solid colors even though I changed it.
I go back in to Personalization > Desktop Background and select Pictures Library and hit save. It then changes and works - but I don't want that one - so if I change it to the old one it shows that it has changed but the photos in that picture location do not show up on my screen.

And oddly enough when I right click on my desktop and click next desktop background nothing happens. I have to click it multiple times now and even then there are times when it doesn't work.

I have attached a photo to show you the screen I'm having problems with.
The Pictures Library option is the only one that works right now(even though the next desktop background doesn't work unless I click it multiple times)
If I switch it to NewShit it won't switch the desktop background and the next desktop background doesn't work at all AND even though I select that option and hit save changes if I click desktop background on the Personalization page to take me to the picture location drop down screen it loads the NewShit photos...but those photos never show up on my PC's background.

Hope that helps explain my problem.
I'll be glad to answer any questions.

In your image I see stretch is selected. The January patch has a glitch where if stretch is selected, the background is black. Choose anything but stretch.

Everything I want as a slide show pictures is placed by me into C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper I've never chosen any option but Windows Desktop backgrounds so I can't help you with other locations. I currently have 24 images (must be jpg or bmp) in a slide show that changes every 1/2 hour.

1. Copy the pictures you want into the default location.
2. Change to anything but stretch.
3. Select the pictures you want in your slide show.

Post any problems you have after you've done the 3 steps above.

TY!!
Changing it from stretch did the trick. I also moved some pictures to the path you stated above and it worked there as well. And the next desktop background option when I right click is now working as well.
Definitely appreciate your help.

You're welcome. There is supposed to be some patch coming from MS in Feb. that will fix the stretch issue on Windows 7 computers.
Once I get the info, I will post either a link or info in this thread so keep looking here after Feb. 11th (normal Patch Tuesday).
