When I asked Dell for help, they charged me $129.00 because my Dell XPS 8300 was Out Of Warranty (OOW). Since they did not fix it, I received the $129.00 back. I fixed it myself by: Control Panel, under Programs, Uninstall a Program. In the list, "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2", Remove. Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Turn Windows features on or off, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1, Remove. Restart & Sign-in. Attempt WU KB4487078. Failed with Error Code 2. Received via Windows Update KB4054530, "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 for Windows 7-64". Unhide WU KB4487918 (09/11/2018) and install both KB4487918 & KB4054530 together simultaneously. Successfully installed both updates with no Error Code. Restart & Sign-in. Unhide WU KB4487078 and attempt to install. Successfully installed with no Error Code. Restart & Sign-in. Question: Should I attempt to install the WU KB4487256 (see below) that was sent out by Microsoft one week after the original WU KB4487078 (Important. Published: 02/12/2019)? 2019-02 Preview of Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB4487256) (Optional. Published: 02/19/2019).

From my perspective, this only occurred on my Windows 7-64 Dell XPS 8300. My other devices run Windows 10-64. I need to update my most recent previous post regarding my solution/fix for Windows Update (WU) KB4487078. These numbers refer to my previous post and either insert or add to that post from 03/10/2019: 4A. Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Turn Windows features on or off, "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1", Reinstall. Verified "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2" in Control Panel, under Programs, Uninstall a Program, has been added back to the list. Verified Registry Release key value 461814, which indicates 4.7.2 has been reinstalled in the Registry.
