An alleged preview build for Windows 11 has been leaked, confirming the new name for Microsoft's next generation of Windows and providing a glimpse of the new features.

Ever since Microsoft announced that they were unveiling their next-generation version of Windows in a June 24th Windows event, speculation about its name has been running rampant.

If this leaked build is legitimate, and it appears it is, we now have confirmation that the next version of Windows is Windows 11.

Why change the Start Menu again? Didn't they learn from Windows 8.x?

This story is blowing up on Twitter too, when I first saw it, I thought it was some kind of elaborate joke.

They try to listen to people and at the same time, be relevant with enough changes to call it a major upgrade. It really doesn't matter what they do. You cannot make 100% of people happy 100% of the time.

I do however agree on the Start Menu. My suggestion would be to make it completely moddable to each user's liking. If you're computer illiterate, you get the basic easy to use, intuitive Start Menu. If you're a power user, mod away. Reduce the need for 3rd party apps.

Even then, as with Defender, which is now a very robust and adequate security solution. People still are not happy.

Do we really even need a new edition of Windows? I don't see the problem with just continuously updating Windows and then changing the build number.

I really like that idea, not sure why they don't just implement it? I think I'll even just stay with the simple and easy to use Start Menu; I rarely ever change any system settings or modify the appearance of things unless they're really awful!

They could add(hide) Start Menu Mods to the list in their "God Mode" tweak.

For me, the current Start Menu is fine. I go through moods of tweaking. For a year or so, I'll install Rainmeter and add a ton of tweaks and widgets. Then, all of a sudden, I'm concerned with resources so I uninstall Rainmeter and go back to stock. Weird huh?:-)
