Windows 11 Windows Modules Installer, Update, SFC Scan & DISM errors. PLEASE HELP!

Good Afternoon,

So I bought a new Lenovo Laptop a few months ago and really have had no issues until now. I checked my Windows Update after an error to install KB5026447. I tried to run both SFC and DISM repairs and both conclude with errors before they start. When I go to Services to try to Start the Windows Modules Installer nothing happens and instead of the Installer starting it says Unknown. Using the Command Prompt as ADMIN I have re-registered all my systems .dlls, reset winsock and manually tried to Stop and Restart Windows Update using net start bits, net start wuauserv, net start appidsvc, net start cryptsvc and rebooting. The Commands say that they are successful, but upon reboot I have the same issues. Below are the All (3) Log Entries for your Use/Reference.

You're running a Windows Insider Preview build, so I had to setup a VM with this build.


Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.

• Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
• Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it to your desktop.
• Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

• SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
• Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
• Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Please upload the latest CBS logs, the DISM is not very helpful in this case.

Upload a copy of the CBS folder

• Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
• Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
• Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
• Click on the Yes button here.

• Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply.

Hi,

You are running an Insider build of Windows 11, these builds are pre-releases for testing purposes and upcoming feature updates (new releases) of the operating system in (stable / RTM) state. Using such versions on production systems could be a risk like in this case if something went wrong.

So my advise would be:
1. Opt out for the Windows Insider Program with your Microsoft account.
2. Re-install Windows 11 using the Media Creation Tool.
3. You could also try to perform a repair install with the option keep all personal files and apps using the Windows 11 22H2 ISO mounted.

Windows 11 Repair Install
This will reinstall and update the operating system and fix any corruptions, without removing any file or program. But make always a backup of all your important data!

• Go to this Microsoft page and under the title Create Windows 11 installation media press on Download tool now.
• Save the tool on your Desktop and double click to run it.
• On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
• On the What do you want to do page, select Create installation media (USB....) and then select Next.
• Choose the ISO file option. Once the download is complete, right click the ISO and select the option Mount.
• Open the Windows File Explorer and open mounted ISO, and run the setup.exe file.
• Follow the instructions and click on the option Change what to keep.
• Select the option Keep personal files and apps and click next.
• Windows Setup will now start the in-place upgrade installation to repair Windows.
