[Start menu] New! When you right-click apps that you have pinned to the Start menu, jump lists will appear for apps that have jump lists.
[Taskbar] New! The system tray shows a shortened date and time. Also, the notification bell icon might not show if you have set the toggle for "Do not disturb" to on. If the bell icon does not show, click the date and time to view your messages in the notification center. To go back to the long form of the date and time, go to Settings > Date and Time. Then turn on the toggle for "Show time and day in the system tray." To show the bell icon, go to Settings > System > Notifications. Turn on the toggle for "Notifications." You can also get to these settings using the context menu. Just right click the system tray clock or bell icon.
[Touchscreen] New! This update adds a new section for touchscreen edge gestures. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touch. There, you can choose if you would like to turn off the left or right screen edge touch gesture.
[Mouse]New! This update adds the option to turn off enhanced mouse pointer precision to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse. There is also a new option to change the direction in which the mouse scrolls.
[Task Manager]
New! The Disconnect and Logoff dialogs now support dark mode and text scaling.
New! The Performance section now shows the type for each disk.
[Input Method Editor (IME)]New! After you install this update, the IME toolbar will hide when apps are in full screen mode. This only occurs when the IME toolbar is active, and you type Chinese or Japanese characters.
[File Explorer]New! You can share content to an Android device from the context menu in File Explorer and on the desktop. To use this feature, you must install and configure Phone Link on your PC.
[IFilters]New! Windows Search runs IFilters in Less Privileged App Containers (LPAC). LPACs are like app containers, but they deny more permissions by default. A process that runs in an LPAC only has access to the resources it needs. The process does not have access to sensitive system components and data. This reduces the potential damage that a compromised process can cause.
[Dynamic Lighting Settings page]
New! Its page will show a placeholder message when there is no compatible device attached to your computer. Also, the Brightness and Effects controls will be off.
New! This update adds the Forward, Backward, Outward, and Inward direction options to the Wave effect. The Gradient effect now has the Forward direction option.
[Narrator] New!We have added new functionalities to Narrator scan mode. Skip past links (N') allows you to navigate to the text after a link. This is most helpful when navigating through long emails, news articles, and wiki pages. Jump to lists (L') allows you to quickly access a list on a web page or a document. To try these new features, you need to turn on Narrator first (Win key + Ctrl + Enter), then turn scan mode ON by pressing Caps Lock + Spacebar and finally use the new shortcuts – 'N' and 'L'. Please note that scan mode is 'ON' by default on most web pages (like news articles, wiki page, etc.).
[Speech in Windows] New!We have improved our speech-to-text and text-to-speech experience on Windows. Users of Narrator, voice access, live captions, live translations, and voice typing might see a message asking them to update their language files manually. The language files will be released separately through Microsoft Store.
[Settings]New! Tailored Experiences is now Personalized offers in the out of box experience (OOBE). You can find it on the Recommendations and offers page. Go to Settings > Privacy & security. Here, you can turn off the setting that sends data about your device to enhance Windows.

Select the icon to open the Studio Effects page in Quick Settings. To view the app that is using the camera, hover over the icon for a tooltip.
[Fonts] New! This update adds Simsun-ExtG, a new simplified Chinese font. It includes the Biangbiang noodles character. Some apps might not be able to display these new extension characters yet. The font has 9,753 ideographs that support Unicode Extensions G, H, and I. See the list below.

[File Explorer]
New!You now have quick access to items that others have shared with you. Shared items include files, emails, Teams chats, and more. To view them, you must use a Microsoft account or a Microsoft Entra ID account to sign in to Windows. To view these shared items, go to the File Explorer Home page and choose the Shared tab. If you use a Microsoft Entra ID account to sign in, you have more viewing choices. You will see the files that you have shared with others. Also, the Recent, Favorites, and Shared sections of the page will show a broader set of file types.
New! When you right-click items in the left pane, the “New Folder” command appears on the context menu.
Fixed: After you do a search, that search might repeat when you don’t want it to.
Fixed: The date and time properties of a file might update after you copy it.
Fixed: Icons on the details pane might not update as you expect when you change a theme. This makes it hard to view the change when you switch between dark and light themes.
Fixed: The search box might lose input focus as you type.
[Mobile hotspot] New! The Windows Mobile Hotspot now supports 6 GHz connections. This new band requires chips that support the feature and updated drivers. The chips that support 6 GHz Wi-Fi might not support the 6 GHz mobile hotspot. To view this new band, go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile hotspot. In the Network properties section, select Edit. To work with existing devices, the mobile hotspot will only use 6 GHz when you enable it.
[Settings]New! You can change time zones in Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time. You don’t have to be an admin to make this change.
[Domains] Fixed: A device might fail to join a domain.
[Mouse]
Fixed: The mouse cursor might disappear. This occurs when you hover over text fields in certain applications.
Fixed: If you turn on pointer trails, the mouse cursor becomes transparent, and a black box appears behind it.

[Pinyin Input Method Editor (IME)] Fixed: When you switch app windows, the IME language might change from Chinese to English.

[Microsoft Excel 2016] Fixed: When you open certain files, Excel opens, but the screen might remain on the loading screen.
[Dam.sys] Fixed: A watchdog timeout error might occur when your PC resumes from sleep.

[Battery]New! Improved icons show your battery status with just a quick glance. When your battery icon is green, your PC is charging and in a good state. Yellow means that your PC battery is in energy saving mode. Windows makes this change for you when your battery power is less than or equal to 20%. Red means battery power is low, and you must plug in your PC as soon as possible. We’re also introducing the ability to show your battery percentage next to the battery icon in the system tray which can be enabled via Settings > Power & battery and toggling on the “Battery Percentage” setting.

You can add, remove, and rearrange lock screen widgets such as Weather, Watchlist, Sports, Traffic, and more. Any widget that supports the small sizing option can be added here. To customize your lock screen widgets, navigate to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
[File Explorer] Fixed: The “see more” (…) menu in the File Explorer command bar opens in the wrong direction in some cases.
[Remote Desktop] Fixed: Remote Desktop won’t use UDP, only TCP.
[Screen orientation] Fixed: Screen may unexpectedly change orientation coming out of sleep on 2-in-1 devices.
[Application Installation] Fixed: The MsiCloseHandle API experiences prolonged execution time when handling MSI files containing a large number of files.
[Boot menu] Fixed: If an update fails and rolls back, it may result in an extraneous and non-functional boot menu entry. This fix stops devices from newly encountering this. Extra boot entries can be managed in the Boot section of System Configuration (msconfig), if you have encountered this issue already.

Fixed: Kerberos authentication fails in certain scenarios when RC4 is used for encryption
Fixed: FIDO Cached Credential Logon may fail in certain cases when device is Hybrid Domain Joined.
Fixed: Opening certain apps after a password change could unexpectedly lead to lockout, if account lockout policy is enabled.
[General Reliability] Fixed: An underlying issue may lead to your PC experiencing a bugcheck (blue screen) with PDC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT when resuming from sleep.
[Network] Fixed: The description of the virtual NIC doesn’t display correctly in Network Connections (ncpa.cpl), showing garbage characters.
[Color Profile] Fixed: Under Settings > System > Display > Color Management, it might not display the expected color profile list for the selected monitor.

We are removing the Location History feature, an API used by Cortana to access 24 hours of device history when location was enabled. With the removal of the Location History feature, location data will no longer be saved locally, and the corresponding settings are also being removed from Settings > Privacy & security > Location page.

New! Finding your documents, photos, and settings across Windows 11 is easier on Copilot+ PCs with improved Windows Search, powered by semantic indexing models along with traditional lexical indexing. Whether it’s searching in File Explorer, in the Windows Search on your taskbar, or in Settings – just type what’s on your mind to find it on your Copilot+ PC. You no longer need to remember file names, exact words in file content, or settings names. Searching for settings like “change my theme” will work within the Settings app for now. Thanks to the power of the 40+ TOPS NPU onboard Copilot+ PCs, these search improvements work even when you’re not connected to the internet. For more info, see semantic search on Copilot+ PCs. New! Locating your photos stored and saved in the cloud is getting simpler on Copilot+ PCs You can use your own words in the search box at the top right corner of File Explorer like “summer picnics”. In addition to photos stored locally on your Copilot+ PC, photos from the cloud will now show up in the search results together. Exact matches for your keywords within the text of your cloud files will also show in the search results. [Recall (preview)1] New!You work across so many apps, sites, and documents it can be hard to remember where you saw something you want to get back to. Recall (preview)* saves you time by offering an entirely new way to search for things you’ve seen or done on your PC securely. With the AI capabilities of Copilot+ PCs, it’s now possible to quickly find and get back to any app, website, image, or document just by describing its content. To use Recall, you will need to opt-in to saving snapshots, which are images of your activity, and enroll in Windows Hello to confirm your presence so only you can access your snapshots. You are always in control of what snapshots are saved and can pause saving snapshots at any time. As you use your Copilot+ PC throughout the day working on documents or presentations, taking video calls, and context switching across activities, Recall will take regular snapshots and help you find things faster and easier. When you need to find or get back to something you’ve done previously, open Recall and authenticate with Windows Hello. When you’ve found what you were looking for, you can reopen the application, website, or document, or use Click to Do to act on any image or text in the snapshot you found. [Click to Do (preview)2] New! Click to Do (preview) makes it easier than ever to take immediate action on whatever catches your eye on-screen on your Copilot+ PC, saving you time by helping complete tasks inline, and quickly getting you to the app that can best complete the job for you. For example, select an image using Click to Do to take actions like erasing objects using the Photos app or remove the background using Paint. To use Click to Do, simply press WIN key + mouse-click, WIN + Q, through the Snipping Tool menu and print screen, or searching “Click to Do” in the search box on the Windows taskbar. New! On Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, Click to Do includes intelligent text actions. Use WIN key + mouse-click or WIN + Q to select a text block and then drag to select the text that you want. You’ll see options to Summarize or to help you Rewrite your text, so it sounds more causal or more formal. These text actions leverage the capabilities of Phi Silica, the on-device Small Language Model (SLM) that is built right into Windows.
New! Easily open Click to Do when you swipe from the rightmost edge of your display.
New! Finding your documents, photos, and settings across Windows 11 is easier on Copilot+ PCs with improved Windows Search, powered by semantic indexing models along with traditional lexical indexing. Whether it’s searching in File Explorer, in the Windows Search on your taskbar, or in Settings – just type what’s on your mind to find it on your Copilot+ PC. You no longer need to remember file names, exact words in file content, or settings names. Searching for settings like “change my theme” will work within the Settings app for now. Thanks to the power of the 40+ TOPS NPU onboard Copilot+ PCs, these search improvements work even when you’re not connected to the internet. Locating your photos stored and saved in the cloud is getting simpler on Copilot+ PCs You can use your own words in the search box at the upper-right corner of File Explorer like “summer picnics”. In addition to photos stored locally on your Copilot+ PC, photos from the cloud will now show up in the search results together. Exact matches for your keywords within the text of your cloud files will also show in the search results. Fixed: As part of our ongoing commitment to improving File Explorer accessibility, this release includes increased support for the text scaling (Settings > Accessibility > Text size) across File Explorer, File Open/Save dialogs and the copy dialogs.
Fixed: Improved the performance of extracting zipped, particularly in the case where you’re unzipping a large number of small files.
Fixed: The address bar in File Explorer might unexpectedly not show a path after opening.

[Sign-In Impact] Fixed: This update addresses an issue affecting the USBxHCI controller and all devices that connect using a USB port on PCs based on Intel's newest CPU architecture. The built-in USB camera won't work with Windows Hello sign-in unless you manually disable Enhanced Sign-in Security (ESS). To turn off ESS, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Additional settings > Sign in with an external camera or fingerprint reader > toggle switch ON. If you create a Windows Hello container while using the Windows 11, version 23H2, it might prevent you from using ESS after you upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2.
[Server Message Block (SMB)] Fixed: An issue where an Excel file, hosted on a SMB file share with Access Based Enumeration enabled, containing links to multiple other files hosted on network shares, might take longer to open.

[UPDATE 4/18] Build 26100.3909 (KB5055627) was released as a small update to Windows 11 Build 26100.3902 (KB5055627), released April 10, 2025. The update addresses some issues with the update itself.

[ADDED 4/18] New! There are some new updates to the new Widgets on Lock experience for devices in the European Economic Area (EEA). In addition to accessibility and craftsmanship improvements, the Lock screen weather widget now supports customization. To configure your weather widget, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen and select the “Customize widget” option from the weather widget more options menu. More widgets will be customizable in the future.

This is most helpful when you read long emails, news articles, and wiki pages. Jump to lists (l) allows you to quickly access a list on a web page or in a document. To use these new functions, turn on Narrator first (Windows logo key + Ctrl + Enter). Then turn scan mode on by pressing Caps lock + Spacebar. Note that scan mode is on by default on most web pages (like news articles, wiki page, and so on).
