Hi
A bit of context:
- After many issues a few weeks ago I was able to update from 23H2 to 24H2 via in-place update, using MS official ISO
- I had to run it like 10x, it only worked after I unplugged all non-essential devices and did a cleanup on DriverStore.
The system is fine but WU cannot install a big update. It had issues to install 2033 but eventually installed it - yet, it kept showing it to install over and over again.
Now, KB5044384 is out and it fails to install - be it via Windows Update, or In-Place update using a ISO created with UUPDUMP to include KB5044384.
My sfc scan always show items being repaired, (I know that sfc is currently broken on 24H2, and KB5044384 is actually supposed to fix it)
I was able to run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth multiple times without an issue, but now even this is failing with Error: 0x800f081f , as you will see in the logs.
PS: dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup always fails, I even ran from Advanced Startup Command Prompt, it went ok, but after restart, Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore always report something instead of 0.
ComponentsScanner initially didn't found any issues the first time I ran it earlier, but after the failed in-place update with the ISO, it now has found issues.
I suspect my Windows has some deep issue wither with Hives, Components or something else, even before 24H2, which is now blocking WU and in-place updates, so I want to try a deeper investigation.
See attached the logs, and let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks!
Edit:
My Network adapter is an Intel I211 Gigabit. I read somewhere that 24H2 is having issues with some Intel Killer adapters, and I believe when I successfully installed 24H2, I had removed / uninstalled many devices / drivers via Device Manager. And once on 24H2, I tried to run Intel latest drivers updates and both versions hang the PC and failed to install, internet came back once Windows 24h2 installed it's own I211 driver.
Do you think it might be it?
