Hello everyone,

First of all, many thanks for your outstanding work. I have performed extensive research to solve my issues, I have tried many things and it seems to be the only place when I could get efficient support.

I am running on a Windows 10 Family version on a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop (bought in 2014). Initially running on Windows 8, I upgraded to Windows 10 when it came out without any issue.
But for a few months now, I have been unable to run Windows 10 Upgrade successfully. The updating process stops after a while with the 0x8007007e error.

I have tried the following, to no avail:
  • Running sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt: I get the message “Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation”
  • chkdsk does not detect any bad sector or any other issue (fyi I have an SSD)
  • DISM : I have run it multiple times (online, offline, offline from a windows image created with the Media Creation Tool) and I always get either the 0x8007007e or the 0x8000ffff error after a while.
  • Running all these operations after booting in safe mode gives me the same results.
  • Windows Update Troubleshooter tool: every time I launch it, it detects corruptions, says it has "fixed" them... but it doesn't: same error when running Windows 10 Upgrade again.

I have run SFCFIX.exe as per requested, here is the logfile content:
SFCFix version 3.0.1.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2019-01-28 11:05:59.059
Microsoft Windows 10 Build 14393 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::
SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.

SFCFix version 3.0.1.0 by niemiro has completed.

The log says no corruption were detected, yet the tool mentioned "due to the nature of your corruptions, scan times have been extended etc." before launching a DISM procedure which ends up with a 0x8000ffff error.

As per requested, here is the CBS.log file: View attachment CBS.zip

I appreciate all the help I can get on the matter, so many thanks in advance for your support!

After digging on my own, servicing gives version 10.0.14393.1883 which traces to the file :
windows10.0-kb4049065-x64_f92abbe03d011154d52cf13be7fb60e2c6feb35b.msu
which I downloaded.

It is my understanding I need to replace the content of the folder:
%SystemRoot%\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.14393.1883_none_7ed84bd822106081
with the content of the KB above.

Executing directly the msu gives me an error saying it does not apply to my computer. I have managed to extract the .cab files, but no idea what to do next...

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, retry upgrading.
