windows 10 home edition, v1809, OS build 17763.529

on 5/22/19, I performed a "windows update".

windows showed that a cumulative update, KB4497934, was available.

windows downloaded the updated, then prompted for a "RESTART".

I manually closed all my open applications, then selected RESTART.

I thought that I observed windows perform the preliminary install (0 to 35%), then restart, then complete the installation thru 100%.

Windows rebooted.

I happed to "view update history" and noticed that the cumulative update was showing "Requires a restart to finish installing"

I restarted the computer several times, rechecked "view update history" each time, and the entry still shows "Requires a restart to finish installing"

I checked EVENT VIEWER for source: "windowsupdateclient" and found the entry for event ID 43 for the referenced KB4497934 and it shows:
"Installation Started: Windows has started installing the following update: 2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4497934)"

HOWEVER, there is NO event ID 19 showing that this update has completed.

ran SFC /scannow
the result was NO integrity violations.

Is there a way to confirm if the cumulative update was completed?

Is there a way to reinstall the referenced KB4497934 AGAIN to hopefully clean up any install issue?

thanks.....

O.K. got it solved.

for future reference...

Select "view update history"

at the top of the window, select "uninstall updates"

scan thru the list of updates to find the problematic update.

select that update and then select "uninstall"

restart the computer.

Once uninstalled, the "view update history" list will be completely cleared (unless Microsoft changes this in the future).

now select "check for updates".

since the update history has been cleared, expect this search to take some time.

once "check for updates" is completed, the update that was just uninstalled should be available to reinstall.

restart as necessary.
