Dear Windows Update experts,

I came across your SFCFix tool hoping that it will fix my Windows issues, but without luck, so I'm trying here in this forum.
Problem description:
- I noticed that automatic Windows 10 updates have not been working for a while due to error 0x80040154.
- Also Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth returns the same error.
- sfc /scannow says "could not start the repair service".
- also any manual attempts to update Windows from the Microsoft website and from USB failed

My Windows 10 is still on 21H2, Version 10.0.19044.2965 according to "ver" command. Last version in WinSxS servicingstack is 19041.2905.

Seems like you experts were able to provide a fix to another user with similar problems recently, see [SOLVED] - Unable to open any exe files 0xc0150004 so I'm hoping that you will be able to help me as well.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Download the

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.

Hi,

Please run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Excellent! the DISM command completed successfully.
Shall I try a Windows update now?

Yes, please attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

One of three updated failed with error 0x8007371b, see screenshot. During restart, it said "updates could not be completed; reverting changes".
See also relevant part of CBS log attached.

Sorry, it's in German. I hope you can decrypt it anyway:

Download the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link
  • Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  • Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  • Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

The tool completed execution, but I think the logs contain too much personal data to post in a forum, such as user accounts, list of all installed programs and firewall rules. Which information are you looking for in particular? Maybe I can post some of the info, like application errors and system errors

I need the complete logs to review, so if you don't want to post them here publicly send both logs in a private message (DM).
