If you are running Windows 7 or 8 and don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you are in constant battle with updates that Microsoft is pushing out to those systems that are often labeled compatibility updates but appear to be designed mainly for getting users to upgrade their systems to Windows 10 or adding snooping capabilities introduced in Windows 10 to previous versions of Windows.
One of Microsoft's goals in regards to Windows 10 is to get as many users as possible to upgrade to the new operating system. The company wants to get more than a billion devices running on Windows 10 in the coming years and one way of making sure that this is going to happen is through the free upgrade offer to Windows 10.

Snooping? Nah! Snooping is what your cell phone carrier is doing by tracking your movements (to within a few yards!!!), knowing when and where you go to shop, work, or just visit.

For the true facts about Windows 10 spying and security, see Ed Bott's article, No, Microsoft is not spying on you with Windows 10 and his follow-up, Microsoft tries to clear the air on Windows 10 privacy furor.

But to the point of these updates, people who have not upgraded to W10 should reconsider. It is better for all of us if Microsoft can focus all their resources and attention on just one OS. It is also important for people like Martin Brinkmann to just report the facts and stop adding biased inflammatory and false commentary to their articles. It serves no purpose but to keep people in a less secureenvironment, not a more secure.

Windows is just the OS. Once users fire up their browsers, word processors, games, etc. the OS is just sitting in the background. If people are worried about spying on their PCs, they should stop using Google, add-on toolbars and search engines - and never use Facebook - those are who they should be paranoid about, not Microsoft.
