Hello.

Corrine from LzD told me that I should post in this Forum a month ago, when I started having problems with Windows 10 updates. Although I have them set to automatic, I have to manually install them, after my antivirus (ESET) warns me that my operating system is not up to date. Also, I had some black screen with a white arrow issues. The computer needed a few forced shut down to work properly again. Before upgraded to Windows 10, from Windows 7, (15th November I think), I had some BSOD issues, and posted here, but we didn't manage to solve the problem, because I used cleanmgr utility.

Anyway, I considered that the new problems were not major, and I didn't post anything here. But since yesterday, another problem occurred. My computer freezes after log in. I can't click on any of my Desktop icons. When I do, it freezes. I can use it only in Safe Mode, and now I am writing in Safe Mode. I tried to uninstalled NVidia driver and after restarting the computer worked fine. I noticed that NVidia didn't installed itself. When restarted again, I checked for updates, and NVidia had being installed. But suddenly, the computer freezed again. I don't know if it is a driver problem or something else, but I need my computer for every day's work.

Please, guide me to post the proper logs for the specific problem.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, Pranav, and thank you for the reply.

First, let you know that I use the computer in safe mode, since I can't do anything in normal mode. So I tried run the tools provided in Safe Mode.

I attach the first zip file.
I didn't manage to have the second one. When I copy and paste perfmon /report into the cmd screen, I get the error message: An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The System cannot find the path specified.

I will wait for further guidance.

Other Information:

· OS - Windows 10 (I updated in November, from Windows 7)
· x64
· What was original installed OS on system: Windows 7 Home Premium
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)?
· Age of system (hardware): OEM Version
· Age of OS installation - Windows 7 from February 2012 till November 2015, Windows 10 from November 2015.

· CPU: I don't know where to look for it.
· Video Card: Intel R HD Graphics 3000, NVidia GeForce GT 540M
· MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop): It's a laptop
· Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one): Laptop

· System Manufacturer: You mean? It's a Dell XPS L502X
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom):

· Laptop or Desktop? Laptop

Something else, that might help:

Last night, after I posted the above, something else happened: I started in normal mode and everything seemed to be ok, for some minutes. Suddenly, every time I right clicked on the screen, an error-message appeared, saying, among others: I/O error status of c0x000000e... I made so many forced shut downs and restarts till now, that I didn't do for a year! I need the computer and in Safe Mode I can't do much...

Pranav, it's me again.

My computer now runs in normal mode. It seems ok, although I cannot enter specific programs, e.g. Skype. But I manage to run the perfmon test, and I attach the zip file right now.

Thank you. Please tell me if you need something else.

report.zip contains 1 HTML file - the PERFMON file.

I'm looking for the SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip file - the output of the jcgriff2/Sysnative file collection app. The are at least 25 files in it.

However, I doubt we'll find any dump files.

Hi DR M ^_^,

I have analysed your reports but sadly both of your dump files are severely corrupt. The error which you mentioned has got the following description -
Code:
3: kd> !error 0xc000000eError code: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e (3221225486) - A device which does not exist was specified.

I also saw multiple reports of Bad Blocks on your hard disk in the Event Log reports. So, this might explain the random freezes and other unexpected stuff. Right now, I would suggest you not to install any Windows Update. Kindly follow the below steps -

  1. Kindly remove ESET and MalwareBytes using this **TOOL** and this **TOOL** respectively.
  2. Kindly perform the Hard Disk diagnostics written on this page - Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Did these freezes occur before you upgraded to Windows 10 as well?

Are you using RAID setup? Asking because I see two RAID drivers running on the system. One is the Adaptec's driver and the other one is Intel's Rapid Storage service.

Once you are done with the above steps, kindly re-run the Sysnative App and upload the freshly generated ZIP file with your next post :)

Let me know how everything goes ^_^

Hi, Pranav. Your words sound not very good to me... I hope that the problem can be solved...

I don't know what RAID setup is. I didn't make something not common with the computer till now.

As for the freezes, yes, this kind of freezes is something I had for first time on Wednesday.

Before installing Windows 10 I had some sporadically BSOD, and the last problem was that when I clicked on many Windows apps (volume, snipping tool, system restore...) nothing happened. It was then I decided to move on Windows 10, and everything seemed to work fine.

I will proceed with your recommendations and I will be back.

Thank you.

I uninstalled MBAM, but cannot uninstall ESET. I tried twice, but during the procedure the computer shuts down, with the message: Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart.

Can I proceed to the second step (Hard Disc Diagnostics) with the ESET installed, or wait for instructions?

... I tried uninstalled ESET, once again, with the same result: your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart.

I tried to boot from the cd I created with the ISO file. No hard disc detected. Check the cables etc.

What do you think?

Finally, I uninstalled ESET, with an uninstaller tool.

I boot from the cd again, BUT here is what I got, once more:

No hard drives found.

No controllers detected.

Well, I returned with some news, and I think it is not good.

First, I found out that some changes in the BIOS needed so the Diagnostic Tool could run. SATA Operation had to change to ATA instead of AHCI.

As soon as I made that change, the tool ran. Then I had to select Perform Short Test. The result was that the HDD didn't pass it (Short Test Failure).

MESSAGE RECEIVED: Your SeaTools Test Code: AAEDAC68
BASIC INFO: Unfortunately, your Seagate hard drive has failed an important diagnostic test, possibly caused by problem sectors which are difficult to read.

I tried another test, with Crystal Disc.
MESSAGE RECEIVED: CAUTION

Now, my question is: Should I run the long test recommended by the Diagnostic Tool? Is there a possibility for the disc to recover? Or should I buy another one immediately? :(

I feel that I'm talking too much, but please accept my apologies! You see, I love my computer! :)
I just noticed that I had to run the long test, so I will proceed. I will be back!

I ran the Long Diagnostic Test.

The test FAILED.

TEST CODE: AAEDAC58

BASIC INFO: Unfortunately, your Seagate hard drive has failed an important diagnostic test, possibly caused by problem sectors which are difficult to read.

It asked me what to do with the 8 errors, and I chose repair. Then, it ran again the test and: PASSED AFTER REPAIR.

During the restart procedure, I got the message: Your pc found (or something like this) an error (with a sad emoticon) and needs to restart. It restarted and now I'm writing in normal mode.

Let you know that during the day I did the following:
1. Uninstalled Skype. It couldn't open. Before uninstall, I got the message that ESET was still trying to uninstall itself. I ran an uninstaller, completely removed ESET, and then uninstalled Skype.
2. Installed a driver for an unknown device, shown in Device Manager. After this I have no unknown devices.

I'm sorry if these actions shouldn't be done... I will not do anything else, waiting your reply. I realize that there is a difference in our time zone, so I hope that we are going to communicate finally. Now it's 23:15, so that's all from me for today.

Thank you for helping me.

Panos.
