Hi! I'm new here. Tried to do my best research and follow guidelines: hope this works
So I've had a problem with Windows Update returning error 0x80073712: "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later."
SFC Scan returns: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service
The final lines from CBS.log after running this SFC scan:
DISM returns error 582, complains about an invalid character and gives me a terse lecture on how unicode works.
SFCFix tells me that there's no corruptions?

EDIT: Also worth noting, there is a second user on this account. At one point the system language of this user was set to Canadian French, I have reset it to English as of two weeks ago. Not sure what the keyboard setting of that account is. Does this make a difference?
