Hi guys. Thanks for the excellent forum. So much better than the standard "didja unplug all your USB devices?" suggestions.

Been fighting with this update error for about 4 or 5 months, and have been pushing windows to ignore the update. I can't any longer. It continues to force an upload on shutdown/reboot every second day or so now, taking about 15 minutes each time to reset back to pre-failure mode. The microsoft "Windows Update" troubleshooter doesn't find any issues to resolve.

I've completed the steps all listed in the top forum post, and am now looking for some pro advice.

Suggestions?

Thank you!

Re-ran some diagnostics, "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" stuff, cleared downloads, retried the update, and still failing.
Noting the exact failure is the "Quality Updates" December 12, 2023—KB5033372 (OS Builds 19044.3803 and 19045.3803) is failing to install. (Error 0x800f0922)/ Pver 250GB on main drive, and 712GB on secondary are free, so it's not a space issue... SIGH.

Hi,

Did you use a tweak tool to forcibly remove or block Microsoft Edge on this system?

I've removed MS Edge from my startup folder. Unsure if I did anything else, as I'm not a fan of MS Edge. I'll investigate.

Please re-install Microsoft Edge (Chromium) because this is the issue of the rollback.

And you are correct! I tried to parse this error log and couldn't make heads or tails of which error caused the failure. Reinstalling Edge did indeed do the job!

I'm thankful you were able to pinpoint which error was the critical one.

Thanks for saving me hours of OS reload time. Another donation is on the way.
