Windows 10 1903 Updates failes with 0x8007007e

Hi,

i have problems with installating the Windows 10 1903 Update, the windows update manager always returns the error code "0x8007007e".
I've tried several things, but now i have no more idea what to do

Has anyone an idea?

What i have tried is the following:

1) SFC /scannow
=> Error "could not start repair service"
=> Check state of "Windows Modules Installer" => Manual
=> Reboot and run sfc /scannow again => no success, same error

2) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
=> Error at 5%
=> The system could not find the file specified

3) Check cbs.log file
=> In the cbs.log file i've found the following entries (relevant entries - from my point of view - marked bold)

From my point of view there are problems with the KB4538461 package.

4) Try to manually register / install this package

4.1) downloaded this package from Microsoft Update Catalog

4.2) extracted the package via expand -F:* windows10.0-kb4538461-x64_42e8cfbe70644506b357941eafe667e967d4bbf2.msu C:\Temp\MS_Update\EXTRACTED

4.3) Install the package via dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:"c:\temp\MS_Update\EXTRACTED\Windows10.0-KB4538461-x64_PSFX.cab

=> Error 0x8000ffff

5) Run SFCFix

=> SFXFix will bring the same error as described in point 2 - maybe it's calling the same command?

And i think i have the same problem...

Executing "dism /online /get-drivers" results in error 126 and in the dism logfile i've found the following:

I've tried to go through the steps from the tutorial, but i'm failing on one of the last steps:

The Servicing Stack update KBs can be traced by searching in Component Detect for a key named amd64*

What is mean with "searching in component"?

My servicing stack is the following: %SystemRoot%\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.1090_none_5715d73398f9ea47

Hi,

i have done more research on my system and i think my latest servicing stack Update (KB4539571) is broken.

If i run "sfc /scannow" (which doesn't work) i will find the following line in my cbs.log (complete log attached)

On other windows 10 systems (with other servicing stack), there are many more files in this folder (including the wrprint.dll).

So is it possible to reinstall the servicing stack KB4539571? Manual install isn't possible (downloaded the msu file, but executing failes with an error).
Or can i extract the content of the msu File and replace the required files manualy? (with 7zip i can see cab file within the mus file and i can open the cab file... But within the cab file i see only other files (mum, cat, without extionsion) and i have no idea how to get the real files from the package)

1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
6. SFCFix will now process the script.
7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

many thanks for the fix. After executing the fix, "sfc /scannow" has worked again and then the installation for the 1903 update worked too without any problems.
