Win7x64 Crashes On Startup/Referred By Windows Update Forum Helper

The drive shown with the "WARNING" was not the system drive. The body of the message to which it is attached explains as much.

That being said, I would really appreciate some help!

The OS won't boot. I can only operate from a Windows command line, or on the drive in question as a hardware device connected to another OS.

All pertinent info. is in the thread I linked to at the top of this thread.

I spent about a week working through another thread in the Windows Update forum, which I've included a link to in my first post at the top of this thread. There is quite a bit of information in there that can inform you of all the details of this issue, as well as a bunch of logs, fixes, more logs, and detailed descriptions of what is happening. Would be really helpful if you could look that over, so as not to have to start over here from scratch. Thanks.

Here is the link, for your review: Windows 7 x64 Crashing @ Startup

If you can boot a flash drive then plan to test the Windows drive.
If the Windows drive is ok then consider either:
a) custom install
b) clean install
For both drivers and applications need to be reinstalled.

If the computer boots to startup repair had you either viewed srttrail or turned off startup repair?

Please go into the BIOS and look for the drives. Which drive is/are being recognized?

All drives are recognized. This is not a drive problem; It is a data problem. The drive checks out fine, and all the details are in the link.

Here is an outline of the issue:

About 9 seconds after the 4 petals of the Windows logo converge, the system just restarts. I'm typing this on a parallel OS on the same box: Windows XP. So whatever I do with the Windows 7 install, I must do it by either booting to a Windows 7 Command Prompt, or accessing the drive from Windows XP as a simple hardware device.

I have tried booting into Safe Mode with no dice; Tried selecting Las Known Good System Configuration from the Advanced Startup Options menu, no dice. Running system restore from Startup Repair is not repairing the issue; But it is telling me in the "details" window that "Startup Repair is not running," as part of the diagnosis. That doesn't make much sense to me though, as Startup Repair is the app that's giving me that error. ???

For these steps do not use xp.

What do you see now when the computer is powered on?

If possible take pictures and post images into the thread.

It's likely that a fresh installation of Windows is needed as the corruption was troubleshooted in the Windows update forum.

If you have several flash drives then steps can be posted to:

1) check the windows disk drive

Either one of these three options:

2) continue troubleshooting

3) perform a reset save files equivalent with the windows iso

4) backup files > clean install

Could you post the logs of startup repair.

Regardless of whether it is successful or not, when startup repair finishes it will give you the location of the srttrail.txt file which is the log of startup repair. It will be located in the Windows 7 partition under windows\system32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt . You can open the file and copy & paste the entire content of the file into your post.

Thank you!

Here is the contents of the file:

I am also attaching a screen shot of an error message I get in the Startup Repair window, for your review.

Could you tell me what you did before Windows 7 started crashing?

Nothing of note. No new installations, settings changes, updates... nothing. The only thing that was an issue was I couldn't get the latest security rollups to install. This had been going on for a couple of months, I just hadn't gotten around to posting my problem in the Windows Update forum yet.

I shut down the computer, then turned it back on a couple hours later. At first, I was able to get the computer to boot up after using "System Restore" from the Startup Repair app. I kept replacing the restore points that would get used and disappear, so that I wouldn't run out. But after one of the steps I was instructed to do in the Windows Update forum, it would no longer start even using the System Restore option in Startup Repair. And this is where I am now.

It seems to fail right at the moment the Welcome screen should appear. The Windows Loading screen (with the Windows logo that comes together) persists for precisely as long as it normally does before turning black for a second and displaying the blue Welcome screen; It just shuts down and restarts instead of displaying it.

Thank you, again, for your help. The fact that this is one of the most difficult issues to troubleshoot is not lost on me, and I really appreciate your time.

Have you tried Last Known Good?

It's not a one shot, I've had it work several times between the 5th and ~7th attempts and I've read that it can store 10 fallbacks.
