Like so many I have had issues with Microsoft Rollups. I usually have to go to the Security portion in the Rollup. Recently, I tried to install KB4019265, KB4019112 and KB4019264. I couldn't get the reason they Reverted. I looked into the CBS log and found the following for the KB4019264 update.

TrustedInstaller service starts successfully.
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Initializing online with Windows opt-in: False
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Cleaning up report files older than 10 days.
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Requesting upload of all unsent reports.
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Failed to start upload with file pattern: C:\Windows\servicing\sqm\*_std.sqm, flags: 0x2 [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL]
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Failed to start standard sample upload. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL]
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Queued 0 file(s) for upload with pattern: C:\Windows\servicing\sqm\*_all.sqm, flags: 0x6
2017-05-15 12:36:13, Info CBS SQM: Warning: Failed to upload all unsent reports. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL]

At the end of the log were a lot of the following message:
Couldn't mark for pending delete: [ml:78{39},l:76{38}]"\SystemRoot\WinSxS\Temp\PendingDeletes"\[l:90{45}]"cdca5383fecfcc0174070000a40e2405.vsstrace.dll". Reason: [13]"Cannot Delete"
2017-05-17 13:37:04, Info CSI 000002bd ICSITransaction::Commit calling IStorePendingTransaction::Apply - coldpatching=FALSE applyflags=7

Don't know what Reason: [13] is. I went to C:/Windows/winsxs/Temp/PendingDeletes. Security has Read Only Highlighted, Not Checked. Hidden is checked. I have tried to change attributes with no luck. I even went up the chain with no luck.

I wonder if this could be the issue since October?

Re: Windows Update Issue

I just ran SFCFix.exe 11/24/2016. It fixed over 2900 entries in C:/Windows/winsxs. There were no corruptions. Not sure what it means by corruptions vs files it fixed. Will try KB4019264 later today.

Re: Windows Update Issue

SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.
Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 1 datablocks.
Finish time: 2017-05-19 05:56:51.688

I checked C:/Windows/winsxs/Temp/PendingDeletes and the folder is NO LONGER there.
I do have a file:
pending.xml.01ccc7e0f620eaaf 12/31/2011 9741KB
Should this be deleted also?

I will run Tweaking.com which seems to do a very good job putting the system in order.

Re: Windows Update Issue

I checked the pending filename in the register and found a couple of entries 01ccc7e0f620eaaf_auto_file.
I have been unable to identify what action auto_file references.

Re: Windows Update Issue

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. Are you still in need of assistance?
Yes. Thank you. I have been to busy to try 4019264 again. Hope to now.

I also discovered in the CBS file there was a problem with 4019112 which was going in at the same time.
I run Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I also have Windows Security Essentials, CCleaner and Malwarebytes for protection. I also use Tweaking.com and SFC /SCANNOW to identify any problems.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

OK, first thing I would like you to do is Check for Windows Updates again. When the list of KBs show up that need installed, please provide me with three of them. Thanks.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

Windows Update has NVIDIA DISPLAY in Optional which I have. It has KB4019264 which won't install. It has KB890830 for Windows Software Malicious. There are also KB3133977 and KB3147071. These refer to Bitlocker and Oracle which I don't use.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

OK, I understand that you have done this already but I need to verify that logs are clean before we continue. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Step#2 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)

1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

I will try and attach the cbs.txt file. I went to Advanced and then attachment and copied the cbs.txt where it said to and I have file:///C:/Users/Chuck/Desktop/cbs.txt open, but is it attached somewhere.

View attachment cbs.txtI have tried something different to attach. Let's see. I went to advanced. did an upload followed instruction to move it to attachment. Hope you can find it.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

Thanks. I'll await the log from Step#2.
I have waited 2.5 hrs and it is still "initializing installation". I am going to cancel at 7:00 Pacific Time. This is crazy. I run Intel I7 930. I have 12mb of Ram. I have a Kingston SSD 128GB with 59GB Free. and a separate harddrive with 407gb free.
Any ideas what could be killing this. I have everything I can find turned off. I tried to raise the priority but don't have authority.

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

I ran the Install again for 2 hours and cancelled. Here is the Checksur.logView attachment CheckSUR.log

As you can see there are still a lot of MANIFEST files missing. There does seem to be some cleanup.
Should I start it again?

Re: [Win7Pro x64] WU Issue

Questions: I have already attached 4 files. How do I clean them up as Attached only allows 5?
View Update History only goes back to 5/20/2017.
Installed Updates goes back to 2011 when the machine was built.

What in the world could be going on? Everything seems to be running okay except WINDOWS UPDATE of certain updates.

Thanks

P.S. I looked at View Update History and found KB2310138 FAILED. This is an old MSE update. Why would it come back?

Yes please re-run. You need to let it finish. It could take hours which is fine.
