I'm running windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7601: Service Pack 1).

I have four imporant updates that refuse to install:

  1. KB3004375
  2. KB3031432
  3. KB3068708
  4. KB3080149

I've run the windows update fix tool provided by MS and I've tried each update individually. When trying the last update (KB3080149), I also watched the CBS.log and found the following error:

Code:
Failed to resolve package 'Package_49_for_KB3061518~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0'

I looked in the registry and confirmed a key with that KB reference did not exist. I tried to download the referenced KB3061518, but when I ran it, it said that the update did not apply to my machine (I think it was x86 instead of x64). I then ran the tool created here and found no corruptions. I also ran it with a .txt file referencing the missing package as such:

Code:
FileScan::
Package_49_for_KB3061518~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat
Package_49_for_KB3061518~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.mum

But nothing was found. I've uploaded my zipped CBS directory (CBS.zip - Google Drive) and here are the results of the autoscan.

Code:
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2017-03-08 18:06:03.876
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::
SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2017-03-08 18:16:41.589

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Four Failing Updates

Update #4 KB3080149 from August 2015 only needs to be installed if an update from June 2015 KB3022345 was installed and when sfc /scannow was run, gave false reports of errors.
Check if you installed 3022345 in June 2015. If you did not, you don't need item #4. (I did not install the June 2015 update so my notes indicate I did not need to install the Aug. update).

As far as item #3, this is optional and can be hidden. My notes say I hid it.
Here is more information on it The truth about Windows 7 and 8.1 'spy patches' KB 3068708, 3022345, 3075249, 3080149 | InfoWorld

I have four computers running Windows 7 in the house. Two are 32 bit and two are 64 bit. Three run Home Premium and one runs Pro. I did the above to all four computers - namely I did not install either of those updates.

Hopefully a true expert will post and help you install items #1 and 2 from February 2015.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Please start with the following.

UnInstall Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB3061518-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Keep the defaults and click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens.
  3. Right-click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin). If a user account control prompt comes up, please allow.
  4. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /remove-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB3061518-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB3061518-x64.cab
  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
    Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
    Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up.
