Hi Guys,

I have about given up on this PC... It is a Samsung Laptop, model NP530U4B - S03ZA. 1 TB drive, 8 GB RAM, Intel i5 CPU. Originally it had Windows 7 installed on it. It successfully upgraded to 8.1. and 10. All 64 bit architecture.
However, since build 1511, it has always failed to install any cumulative updates, and therefore is still stuck on 1511. Mostly, I just wait for the next update, let it fail, then hide the update with WUShowHide.
Windows Creator Update also fails.

SFCFix reports no errors, but incorrectly identifies the CPU as an AMD64.

I am so glad to stumble across this forum, because I am suddenly filled with new hope that a real expert could cast an eye over my log files and find something. I sure couldn't...

All help would be greatly appreciated!

Ben

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Update failing since 1511

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. Are you still in need of assistance?

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Update failing since 1511

Hi Brian,

I have not made any further attempts to resolve the matter, pending a response from this thread. Therefore, the problem still persists.

Thanks for reaching out, though!

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Update failing since 1511

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello and welcome!

Please zip and attach C:\Windows.~bt\sources\panther\SetupAct.log and SetupErr.log

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Update failing since 1511

View attachment setupact.zipHi there,

Please find attached the documents, although I did not find them in the directory you specified (which does not exist on my machine.) I found it in C:\Windows\Panther\NewOs\Panther

Good luck!

1. Download the Media Creation Tool to your desktop. Go ahead and run this. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you are at this link.
2. Accept the license agreement
3. Keep the default which is to Upgrade your PC and click Next.
4. Go ahead and run this through and let me know when complete.

Hi there,

I downloaded and ran the media creation tool from. The link you provided pointed to an error page, but I found the tool on the Microsoft website. After going through the whole process, the end result was a message that "The update has failed."

Best,

Ben

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, two files should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt and Logs.zip.
  8. Attach the files into your next post for me to analyse.

Hello, I'm going to need some additional information.

Can you tell me at which exact point does the error occur when running Media Creation Tool? Is it after the first reboot? Is it prior to rebooting? Can you take a screenshot of the error message for me? If you can't, please note it down and tell me exactly what it says and note down any error codes that may appear on the screen.

Hi there,

Since the tool takes a long time to execute, I have not recently observed when exactly it fails. It brings up a little standalone message box that gives the failure message. When I have time in the next day, I wil run it gain and note the details.
