Hope I'm able to explain the problem here.

How do I break a link to a User profile disk.

On our Win 2016 server we have user profile disks. They are stored at e:\UserProfileDisks
In c:\Users\ there are folders with username and the folder icons has the shortcut symbol.

Then I copied the c:\users\"username" folder from a backup into e:\UPD_rec\"username"
Now I cannot delete anything from the e:\UPD_rec folder without it being deleted from c:\users\"username".
And I can't see the link from e:\UPD_rec\"username" to e:\UserProfileDisks\******.vhdx anywhere.

How do I break this link so I can delete the e:\UPD_rec\"username" without deleting the data from the userprofile?
Coz if I delete anything from e:\UPD_rec\"username" its also gone from c:\users\"username".

Its not acting like a normal shortcut at all. I can't delete the "shortcut" file without it deleting everything it points to.
And When I copied the "shortcut file" it wasn't a few kb like a normal shortcut, but 13GB (all the data on the profile). When I browse it, I get a normal adress like e:\UPD_rec\"Username"\desktop\folder , It doesn't send me to c:\users\"username"\desktop\folder.

I want to get rid of e:\UPD_rec\"username" without touching the users data. the files I see in c:\users\"username"
