Not sure where to post this, please excuse if incorrect.

Had this ASUS X550CA laptop PC since new back in 2009 +/_ . . . it came with Win 8 and MS Office.

I have always hated Win 8.1 but reluctant to dump it because of losing MS Office (PC was gift from daughter).

Now the errors are driving me crazy and I'm sick of it.

Just fixed run time error 217 with help of softwaremaniac and now it's back again!

I have 2007 MS Office which I put on my desktops and can install on this ASUS also.

I have new SSDs, Win 7 Pro, and Win 10 Pro (which is on my Desktops and I hate that too).

Win 10 drives me crazy and I love Win 7 but the support is going away.

My question is: Pros/Cons? Which OS would you install?

I would most certainly go for Windows 10. It's the latest, most secure and most fluid OS ever. Highly recommended.

Absolutely agreed, and I liked Windows 7 and despised 8/8.1.

Windows 10 is, in my opinion, the perfect marriage between what we all knew and loved from Windows 7 and earlier with the few good ideas of the Windows 8.1 era. It's also a lot more like Windows 7 in its overall approach than Windows 8/8.1 ever were, and I wouldn't give up the enhanced search and settings features for love nor money.

I'll also add, I have about 11 machines at work and 3 at home all running Win 10. A few are on the Insider Preview 2004. All are used for a wide variety of different things. The home one is a gaming machine. I have had so little trouble with these machines with the exception of every now and again, I'll have to update a driver manually.

Another add: WIn 10 comes with Windows Security (Windows Defender). It is now, one of the most robust and feature filled Anti Virus/Malware programs out there. It comes with Win 10 free and you don't need a third party AV anymore. It's integrated into the OS and uses very little resources.

Although my primary Intel Core i7 laptop is running Windows 8.1 (which I like very much), I finally bought an SSD and will be installing Windows 10 on it soon. Time for W8.1 to go.

I too would recommend that you go with Windows 10. You really cannot keep W7 as it is too much of a risk (infection) due to the lack of Windows security patches.

Regards. . .
