Win 7 to win 10 upgrade follow up (is there a problem?)

Back in January, I was able to upgrade the OS, with the help of PeterJ (see " Error prevents upgrading Win 7 to Win 10" thread).

Since then, two things were noticed.

1. Practically every day, several windows open-close for a spit second; not enough time to read anything. One window looks black, like the CMD app.

2. Execution of many programs, in particular opening PhotoShop, slowed down considerably.

The Task manager displays "Antimalware Service" which may cause slowdown. I am not sure what this program is and whether it's redundant.

How can I analyze what runs in the background, what slows down the machine, and what can be disabled?

Thank you!

The Antimalware Service Executable is a component of Microsofts Windows Defender. When it's using the CPU it is actively scanning which can slow down some systems. It should return to normal once the scan is finished.

His start, type task scheduler. Choose open as Administrator. Once open Task scheduler Library/Microsoft/Windows/Windows Defender. click on the Windows Defender folder on the left and on the right you'll see tasks that are scheduled. Edit the Periodic Scan Task to perhaps a time when your PC isn't being used. This is assuming you leave the PC on.

I don't recommend turning it off or disabling it.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Task Scheduler shows only one process, at 2:14AM, which is fine. Then, what runs during the day?

No, I will not disable it, even if it slows down other programs.

What is MP in "MP Scheduled Scan"?
