Happy to find Sysnative!
my boot fail odyssey started 24 days ago.

this win7 install is 2 yrs old.
custom build pc
asus p8p67 mobo
i7 processor
32gb mushkin ram

migrated as clone from 500gb ssd drive to 1tb samsung evo ssd 9mos ago.
shutdowns have been failing half of the time long before the 1tb drive clone.
i've just never been in the loop that shutdown fails were a very big deal... (still not sure how bad that is) I'd just hit the power switch on the PS after a minute, and walk away.
win7 boot is now a fail.
at first the fail was a flashing cursor only. then after multiple attempts at auto-fixing with the win7 dvd and macrium's iso winPE disk > the result is: a disk read error has occurred.

--------------
day 1 of the fail > after a few failed attempts to boot > she boots up > yay
my next move > created a system image disk onto a 1tb hdd > cloned the problem drive to another 1tb hdd using acronis.

Ive been unable to successfully recover the win7 system image with either win7 dvd, or macrium.

the clone attempt delivered a result that has been booting successfully.
so i decided to focus on recovering the system using the cloned drive.
many attempts to use acronis and macrium to clone that "cloned" drive were unsuccessful.
ran chkdsk /r > still unable to clone the drive.
i will need to clone that image to a ssd drive.

--------------

as for my problem ssd drive:
multiple attempts at auto-fixing windows with the win7 dvd and macrium's iso winPE disk > the result has changed from a flashing cursor to > a disk read error has occurred.

i've installed the problem ssd drive in a different pc to test it with the samsung ssd magician app > it tests ok.
all files and folders on the drive populate when connected to another pc as an accessory drive.

connecting the problem drive as the os drive on another pc gets the "disk read error has occurred" result > same as on original machine.

i am running memtest86 on my32gb of ram now, although i doubt that ram is the issue.

I need a hand.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!

fwiz here: i should have had some specific questions. here goes:
- i'm gonna search this forum for more info on shutdown issues and how to troubleshoot them. any advice / links appreciated.
- regarding re-cloning the cloned system image which boots > i've tried multiple fixes from macrium's site to get that disk to clone. should i try another product, or let it go.
it seems to me that that image is likely somehow corrupted > can that be assessed?
- regarding the problem ssd image: Can you help me get win7 running? with the history of bad shutdowns, does that make it more important that i should start with a clean install?
Thanks.

Is there some way that you can check that the SSD firmware is current?

Info from TechNet on images - maybe something here can help...? https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee956904(v=ws.10).aspx

Have you tried the SSD in another system as the boot drive just to see if it will boot?

Recap
You have 3 clones -
- 500 GB SSD
- 1 TB SSD
- 1 TB HDD (SATA-?)

None of these will currently boot?

ssd firmware is current

i did try the ssd on another PC > same error result

3 drives:
1) ssd 1tb bsod
2) clone > boots > won't clone > suspect it's corrupted
3) system image of the ssd created by win7 at the time it last successfully booted.
Thanks!
