Hi All - I keep getting a failed update message from an old Windows 2017-12 Security Monthly Quality Rollup (Error Code: 80004005) as well as now some new updates for October 2018 KB4462923 Error Code: 80004005.

FYI I do want to mention that I think a couple years ago the Windows 10 update automatically installed when I didn't want it to, and since it was my elderly parents computer I rolled back the update and I am not sure if this is relevant at all but just wanted to add this piece of information if it is helpful.

SFC Scan: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

I ran the SURT before and it had a bunch of errors and said all were fixed then I tried running it again as instructed to post here and it just keeps getting stuck on initilaizing installation... Not sure what to do.

CBS Zip link: CBS.zip - Google Drive (i think it may be useless now though because the SURT keeps failing to work...

Ok, I reran the SURT overnight and it worked, I guess it just took a really long time to initialize and I got impatient. There were no errors found in the SURT.

Here is the link to the new CBS folder: CBS2.zip - Google Drive

Hello and welcome!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
6. Try updates and if any fail, attach CBS.log.

Wow! I think that worked! You are Amazing!!

I just updated successfully all available updates. The only issue is that it is showing Failed update of an update i didn't even try installing now. It shows error for "Windows 10 couldn't be installed" Errors found: 80004004-40019 which is the update from couple years ago when I didn't want the free Windows 10 update they pushed out...

The CBS.log was almost 400MB before I zipped it.. CBSlog.zip - Google Drive
