Symptoms and things I tried. - When computer boots up, on login screen Earth icon appears with stop sign at lower right corner. - Once logged in, network icon doesn't show up at the right end of task bar - Opening Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel fails with "The page failed to load." - Settings -> Network & Internet does not show Wi-Fi and Ethernet options and clicking on Status makes the Settings window disappear - Ethernet connection works fine but cannot change any settings for it - Services shows WLAN AutoConfig service and Windows Connection Manager service as not running - Starting WLAN AutoConfig Service fails with (The same when started from Services window) C:\WINDOWS\system32>net start wlansvc System error 1068 has occurred. The dependency service or group failed to start. - Starting Windows Connection Manager fails with C:\WINDOWS\system32>net start wcmsvc The Windows Connection Manager service is starting. The Windows Connection Manager service could not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 193 has occurred. *** is not a valid Win32 application. - SFC scan fails with C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 9% complete. Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. - DISM Scanhealth fails with C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.19041.844 Image Version: 10.0.19041.867 [===========================86.1%================= ] Error: 4448 The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's Resource Table. The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log - DISM Restorehealth fails with C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.19041.844 Image Version: 10.0.19041.867 [===========================53.4% ] Error: 4448 The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's Resource Table. The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log - Tried to restore to the last Windows update but it failed with message saying mobilenetworking.dll could not be extracted - Tried multiple reboots Also tried suggestions in the web for SFC failure (safe mode, chkdsk, etc.) but couldn't make SFC work. I appreciate any help very much.
