I pulled the HDD out of an old Dell Latitude laptop but it doesn't have the normal HDD pins. Apparently there was a different pin configuration when this laptop was manufactured. Is there an adapter that I can use to get data off this HDD?

Since it appears you're in the U.S., just bring the HD to a good computer store and that way you'll be sure it matches up. I wouldn't go to Best Buy, but if that's all that's in your area go there.

There already is an adaptor on the back of that thing. Remove that first. Hopefully there's a standard IDE (PATA) connector. Then look for an IDE to SATA adaptor similar to this.

The problem is, while it appears to be a standard Hitachi drive, Dell was notorious for using proprietary parts.

So yeah, a shop may be able to help.

Ah, yes. So it is. Thanks again Digerati. I pulled the adapter off and indeed there is a standard connector there for which I have a USB adapter.
