Hello,

I am encountering a problem when installing patch KB4534310 on a 2008R2 server.
The installation is blocked with error 80070002.

I was able to find the source of the error via the CBS file :
"Error : Failed to find file: [...........] [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]"

I have already copied 7 files from another 2008R2 server completely patched from the winsxs folder to the corrupted server.

But I think at this rate I still won't have finished in 2045.

I have installed the KB4103768 which allowed the correction in this thread : [SOLVED] - Machine 4: KB4499164 failed with 80070002 on WS 2008R2 Standard SP1 x64 ---> Unsuccessfully.

This machine has no connection to the internet.

I've tried to install the patch again without success.

Hi,

Install the update using the downloaded update MSU file instead of using Windows Update and after the installation fails collect the CBS.log please.

Please provide the following files.

Retrieve the Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file
  2. Please copy the COMPONENTS file to your desktop
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again
  3. Right-click on this file on your Desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your Desktop
  4. If file will is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry Hive (CBS)
  • download the script ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareCBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If the zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry keys (SBS)
  • download the script ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareSBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Hi,

Try this:

Retrieve Registry Hive(s)

  1. Please download RegBak (by AceLogix Software) and save it to the Desktop
  2. right-click on the file regbak.zip then select Extract all... to extract the files to the Desktop a new folder called regback will be created
  3. from the Desktop open the folder regbak and Run regbak64 by double clicking the file, if it doesn't work because you have a 32-bit Windows, Run regbak instead
  4. don't change any options and click Next, accept the default Settings and click Start. RegBak will backup all of your Windows Registry hives
  5. after the backup click Close to go back to the main screen of the program. You will see a list of backups listed right-click on the most recent and select Explore Backup...
  6. on the opened window navigate inside to the folder .\Windows\System32\Config\
  7. copy the file(s): COMPONENTS to the Desktop
  8. right-click on these file(s) on your Desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
  9. If file will is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Hi,

Please upload the CBS.log again because the .7z file is corrupt!

Hi,

It seems there are several values missing on the registry! lets try a different approach...

Uninstall Update Manually

- open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
- type or Copy & Paste the following: wusa /uninstall /KB:4524157
- confirm that you want to uninstall the update

If the result is some error like Update isn't installed, error during the uninstall, etc. execute the following steps:

Search with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
  • Download FRST or FRST x64 and save it to the Desktop.
(Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it say that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64)
  • open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
  • type the command:
    dism /online /Get-FeatureInfo /FeatureName:TFTP|find "."
  • wait for the command to finish with "The operation completed successfully" or equivalent
  • close the window "Administrator: Command Prompt"
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon
    FRST.jpg
and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
(When the Tool opens for the first time you must click Yes on the disclaimer.)
    FRST_SearchRegistry.png
  • On the Search box (1) type or Copy & Paste the following text:
    KB4524157
  • Press the Search Registry button.
  • Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (SearchReg.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
  • Please attach the log to your post.
