Hi again,
Sorry for the delay, I've been on Work Experience this week and as a result have been a little tight for time. I'm back on holiday now, so can take a look at this properly now.
This is a very strange problem. The FixIt's I asked you to run have effectively reverted Internet Explorer back to a clean install. Any add-ons have been disabled and temporary data has been removed. It's almost a clean install of Internet Explorer.
BTW - Is Mail working now? If it isn't, please let me know!
Can you describe
exactly what happens when you use IE now please? I want to know exactly what I'm dealing with now. :)
Let's answer some of your questions.
Hi Stephen, I ran both fixes and neither one solved the problem. I notice I now have the symbol for 'Compatibility View' in my address bar now, though; it says, "websites designed for older browsers will often look better, and problems such as out-of-place menus, images, or text will be corrected". Does this mean I've gone backwards with IE by doing the fix?
OK... Compatibility view is a feature of IE, read more about it here:
www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-7-|-windows-vista/6670-windows-vista-computer-not-working-well-lately-3.html#post52491. It isn't an issue.

Out of interest, I'd like you to create a new user account and run IE in that account. Does it freeze and hang like it normally does?
I'm not confident about doing that because I might bugger myself up because I don't remember the password for my current user account.
OK, don't worry about that

Does this website ring any bells to you - tory-usa.com. That may not be the full URL, but does it ring a bell? It appeared in the dumps.
No, tory-usa.com doesn't ring a bell at all. Thanks for checking everything for me. As an aside, I did have a problem with CBS Logs before, btw; it was the reason I began posting at Sysnative. My computer ran fine after that was fixed, though - until the last few months, that is when I began having the problems I'm currently experiencing.
OK, that's quite strange then. I saw that referenced in the dump -

On a side note, here's a slightly amusing line (PATROLPRO is WinPatrol) (This isn't your issue BTW, I just found this line amusing somewhat):

I tried a couple of different things yesterday. First I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player - it didn't fix the problem, so I reinstalled. I had read on the internet that the ActiveX in the new version of Flash Player can cause IE9 hanging. I also ran the 'Problem Reports and Solutions' in Vista, and in the report it said:
Attachment 4878
And here is the link for the problem report:
Bonjour Print Services for Windows v2.0.2
I'm at a loss. I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade to Internet Explorer 10 with a Vista operating system? In think I know the answer, though.
Dianne
Reinstalling Flash was a good idea, shame it didn't help...
I don't think that Bonjour Print Services is responsible for the crashes you are having, it's just something else Vista picked up. If you like, you can uninstall and reinstall Bonjour Print Service. It probably won't solve the issue though.
And no, it's not possible to get IE 10 on a Vista system. IE9 is the highest availible version.
Let's try something. I would like you to uninstall IE9 from your system by following the steps here:
Uninstall Internet Explorer. It does say IE8, but it works for IE9.
This will revert your system to IE8. Does this work correctly? Does it hang? If it does, then IE9 is not at fault, it's something else on your system. If it works OK, then IE9 is the issue.
After testing IE8 as above, reinstall IE9 as described here:
Repair or reinstall Internet Explorer in Windows.
You will then have a clean version of IE9 on your system. Take a backup of your favourites before you do this, just in case. They can be found in C:\Users\
your username\Favourites\
Let me know how that goes.
