Some time ago I got bsod during chkdsk before it completed. Yesterday it happened at 98% of full scan antivirus. Today it happens at shutdown. I'm not a computer wiz but I ran the app for dump system files but the perfmon report said "error occurred while attempting to generate report". I will try to attach what I have but it might take more than one attempt. If this thing was a mule I'd just kick it to get it to work! Thanks for any help you can offer! I am starting vacation so not sure how quickly I will be able to check for replies. Thanks again!

I forgot this earlier... Win 7 Home Premium 64 ...original OS...OEM... Computer 3 years old... HP dv7 Notebook... Prod #A7B11UAR...AMD A83520M APU Quadcore HD graphics... AMD Radeon HD6620G.

Hi ifthiswasthat & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I don't know why but WinDBG was not able to download the symbols for your dump files so cannot provide a detailed analysis :( .

Kindly follow the below steps -
  1. I would start by removing Mcafee since it has been having problems lately. Kindly download the **TOOL** and remove it. Once you have removed Mcafee, make sure that Windows Defender/Microsoft Security Essentials is enabled.
  2. Kindly run the Hard Disk Diagnostics from this **LINK**. Once you are finished with the diagnostics, please report the results.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Thanks for the quick response. I ditched mcafee and enabled mse and firewall. Also did the checks on memory and harddrive. They both passed. I had trouble doing the verify driver thing so I just bypassed that part.
The startup and general overall performance of the machine is greatly improved.
Still get the "error occurred while attempting to generate the report" not sure how big a deal that is but the machine is running a lot better than before and so far no bsod doing the ops that caused it before. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if anything happens in the future. Thanks again for the help! (thumbs up)
