With Coronavirus shutdown, I have been looking into my Windows 7 Pro 64bit. The latest question is Why Do I have so many Universal Serial Bus Controllers?

1 Generic USB Hub
8 Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3A3A, 3A3C, 3A34-3A39
2 NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller and Root Hub
8 USB Root Hub

Dates range from 2006 all except 2010(NEC)

I did some searching for updates but Microsoft says they are current.
Are they all related to my ASUS MotherBoard?

You're going to see devices plugged into your computer as well as the possibiliy of older devices that may have been plugged in once. Each USB controller will need the driver reinstalled if it is plugged into a new port.

Most motherboards have multiple USB hubs integrated into the board. For example, the ports on the back of the computer go through one hub. Then the case's front panel USB ports likely go through another controller. If you have both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, they might use different controllers.

If your keyboard or monitor, or perhaps an external drive supports additional USB ports, they might appear as additional controllers.

So what you are seeing is normal. I would not worry about it unless you look in the back of your computer and you see some device you don't recognize. And if that happens, it is time to get a different dog.

Thanks to all. I did refresh my memory and yes there are many ports and uses are standard devices.
