Hi ,

I tried to install Windows updates for Windows Vista 32 bit OS , Failed to install all the security updates , however I'm able to install .Net updates

Steps , I've done so far ,

Ran SFC scan

Ran SURT

Ran Reset Windows components fixit : support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Renamed SD and Catroot2 folders .

Cannot remove Windows install using cleanup utility . getting error like Error creating process <wscript Startmsi.vbs> Reason: cannot find the file specified

Ran Hitman pro scan and ensuring PC is clean .

Services are running properly .

I suspect SC.exe is the faulty one as I gone through the CBS log . Please assist me to proceed further .

Note : Cannot install any security software in the PC .

CBS Folder : http://sdrv.ms/1imKUPV

CBS.txt http://sdrv.ms/1imL5dW

can anyone please reply to my thread .

I suspect that it isn't the sc.exe file actually, although we will fix that as well. It's probably a little bit of registry damage I can see in the logs.

But first, can you please tell me which computer this is. Is this the same Vista 32bit computer we fixed a couple of months ago? If it is, we need to think carefully about why it's gone wrong again so soon. Secondly, is this a home PC or are you part of a small business/PC repair shop?

Thank you.

Richard

This is not the same PC , this is the different one . I'm a technical support agent . Can you please help me ?

Thank you for your honesty. I will do my best to help you.

WARNING: This fix has been created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do not follow these instructions as you may cause serious harm to your computer.

Download a copy of SFCFixScript.zip attached to this post, and save it to your Desktop.
Then download a copy of SFCFix.exe from here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/downloads/sfcfix/, and also save it to your Desktop.
Single click on SFCFixScript.zip and drag and drop it on top of SFCFix.exe. SFCFix will open and perform a fix for your corruptions.
A logfile called SFCFix.txt will open (and be saved to your Desktop). Please copy and paste the report into your next reply.

Then once done, please re-run the System Update Readiness Tool and post a new CheckSUR.log (it is essential that the SURT is re-run).

Thank you!

Richard

Looks great! I shall look forward to the CheckSUR.log when it has completed (I'm sorry the SURT takes so long to run, but it's the best...)
