Hello again,

i have a problem with some notebooks that the update to version 1909 does not work. After the installation I reboot and at about 72% another reboot is performed and then I get a BSOD with the message "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". Unfortunately without any further information. On the first restart, Windows tries to restore the installation and on the second restart, Windows returns to the old version. I already looked if drivers and bios updates exist for the notebooks but this is all up to date.
Strangely enough, these are all notebooks of the same type. On other computers the update works without problems. I once used the SysnativeBSODCollectionApp for analysis purposes and attached the file. I would be very happy about a tip where the problem could be.

Many thanks in advance.

BR

Dirk

Zip does not contain crash dump files but you have a full memory dump (MEMORY.DMP in C:\Windows) so please send via Google Drive or Dropbox

Sorry for my late reply. I will do the mem test as soon as possible. I am curious about the result, since I have several computers with the same problem ...

Hello again,
I have checked the RAM with both tools and there were no erros during the checks. Do you have any more ideas?

Hi!

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Hello, I havent heard something from you in the last week. Was everything alright with the attached files? It would be nice to hear from you.

Hi, sorry but uninstalling Kaspersky and installing the update 1909 doesnt work. It fails with same error again.

I think you mean the software wibu-key to transfer keys? Or did you mean the key? Removing the software would be no problem. What should I do after removing the software?

Did you try to update it to 1903 before 1909?
It seems hardlock.sys (hardlock by gemalto by thales company?) could interfere with updates: did you try to completely remove the software before the update?
Are you encrypting windows data on this PC?
MS also tells to remove AV programs before the update, and if it still doesn't help: try the clean boot/startup.

Hi, I tried to update to 1903 before writing here the first time. I will try it again after removing AV and the hardlock driver. Windows is not encrypted.
I will reply with my results tomorrow.
