update w7 toward w10 error 0xc1900101 0x20017 safemode operation boot

Hello,
i explain you the situation...
For one of my friends, i am putting back in working order this pc.
i started from windowsXP which i had the key; then i migrated toward windows vista and then toward windows7. i am not sure that i can find an official key to activate this last version...this little program "winloader.exe" allows to activate these versions; and if microsoft hasn't changed its politics it was possible to get a real version of w10 by upgrading w7.
but for each of these previous upgradings i already had some worry with the pcmcia driver...i hoped it was resolved...
i made a new try with the iso file written on a dvd nd i get the same failed result (blocking on the logo w10 screen, without any activity on the hdd disk). with allways the same errors.
in order to restart the device i am obliged to switch off and on the pc and then i lost the informations setuperr and setupact in c:/windows/panther
Thank you for all.

I'm not sure this issue can be fixed.
  • Download the file MGADiag.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Extract the downloaded file. It contains the file MGADiag.exe by Microsoft.
  • Right-click the file

MGADiag.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Click the button Continue.
  • When finished, a report will be displayed. Click the button Copy.
  • Paste the information in your next reply.

It looks like your Windows 7 has never been validated. The files needed for activation are not present.

Hello, thank you for your answer.
i do again the previous manipulation with mgadiag...and i give in attachment the new result with a capture of the "system screen" which indicates that the windows7 version has been activated...
i don't know how to validate this version.
thank you for your help.

If this machine was running Windows XP fully licensed and upgraded to Windows Vista and Windows 7 then it is ok.
That also means this machine is very old and probably does not perform well Windows 10.

Attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\MoSetup\BlueBox.log to your next reply.

Run the command bcdedit > "%userprofile%\desktop\bcdlog.txt" in an elevated commandprompt.
It will create a file called bcdlog.txt on your desktop.
Attach that file to your next reply.

hello,
after executing the command powercfg /hibernate off i had just made a new try of upgrading...but allways with the same failing result...
i present here the different txt log files that you asked me before in a previous post...
this time also i don't find the setuperrer ant setupact files in c:/windows/panther but in previous operation a few weeks ago i found something, that's surprising.
i let you the files setuperrer-2 and setupact-2 files found in c:/windows/panther/newos/panther...the other files setuperrer and setupact are from c:/windows...
Perhaps these elements can help you.
Waiting for your next suggestions.

Ok. It seems there are no problematic devices.

ps: in windows-bt/source/panther there are also setuperr and setupact files, do you want that i send you them?
Yes please.

Hello,
Here are the setuperr and setupact files that are found in windows-bt/source/panther...
Thank you for all.
ps: as the error occurs in safe_os mode during boot operator i wonder if it's was not necessary to rebuild the bcd in booting process...

hello,
on a web page about the safe_os error, among other possible causes of errors,i read that it may be due to MBR (master boot record) issue (length or corruption)...
On this pc i fetched the disk manager and on the system disk (disque 0) i didn't find the MBR partition...
Perhaps, should we reconstruct the mbr partition?
i let you here the screenshots of the screens of disk manager and even the results of the diskpart commands.
Thank you for all.

hello, thank you for your suggestion...
in unallocated space on the disk i hat only 9MO, but the process needs 200MO. I had to reduce the size of the c: partition.
i will come back to you as soon as i will succeed resizing these partitions; for this i had to use thrird party software (as easus partition manager).
Thank you for all.
