[SOLVED] Unable to use Windows Repair Install and Sfc/DISM Failing

Greetings,

Running with Windows 10, I've encountered issues using sfc /scannow and DISM.

Sfc always gets stuck, citing that the "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth gets stuck and lists: "Error: 4448 - The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's Resource Table."

In an attempt (a few of them admittedly), to try and clear this up, I attempted to to "repair upgrade" Windows through the Windows Creation Media, using a USB, however at every turn was met with:
"Error 0xC1900101 - 0x3000D: Installation failed during the FIRST_BOOT phase while attempting the MIGRATE_DATA operation."

I've attempted to use DISM to repair using USB and ISO, but was met with the same Error 4448 regardless if I'm in WinRe, Safe Mode, or not.

Step 1. Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.


Step 2. Run COMPACT to check the compression state of files
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type CMD.
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, select the option Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt and press enter.

Now we have a different error (0x8007025d - ERROR_BAD_COMPRESSION_BUFFER) for another component. So the message from DISM should be different as well?

Heya,

Yeah the DISM error message changed, sorry I should've mentioned that. After applying the latest fix, the error changed back to what it was previously. Screenshot attached too.
