Hi there! I have a Windows Update issue that I can't resolve so I'm here to ask for help if anyone can help me.

I always get the 0x80040154 Download Error error code when doing Windows Updates and whenever I try to use the SFC and DISM repair commands they also fail to run, also when I run the DISM repair command I see the 0x80040154 Download Error error code that I also get when trying to do Windows Updates.

So I found this forum site through Google and also found a post that is almost identical to what I'm experiencing ([SOLVED] - Windows Update failing, drivers failing, BSODs, SFC and DISM failing.).

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi @Alind,

More info: I encountered this problem when trying to update from Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2. I also tried to mount the official Microsoft ISO file to upgrade a few days ago, but when the update screen reached about 100%, a window said "Update failed".

I also used the ComponentsScanner tool to check, but the log of the tool showed that no errors were found.

Thank you so much! After this SFCFix, my DISM worked fine, and this is my SFCFix.txt file, now I can also download updates through Settings-Windows Update, it is still in progress.

Thank you so much! I have successfully updated to Windows 11 24H2. This problem that has been bothering me for several months has finally been fixed. Actually, I haven't been able to update since October last year...
