Hello,

I'm having an identical issue to one posted around New-Years:
As title suggests, Windows 11 24H2 install fails Install error - 0x800700c1

I tried restarting, running Windows Update Troubleshooter, BITS Troubleshooter and the repair update, which update also fails. I tried a repair update from iso and a windows reset while saving my files. Both fail.
I tried running dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth in CMD prompt, but I get "Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

sfc /scannow give me the "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." prompt.

CBS, DISM and Components scanner have been uploaded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hey, Thanks very much for the response.

RestoreHealth failed again so here's the new CBS and the requested .txt file for whenever you have a moment.

That did the trick! At first, the RestoreHealth command was still failing but eventually, windows managed to auto-update, which cleaned up everything else.

Thanks a ton!

Cheers
