Hey everyone,

There's a blog I want to unfollow on my blogger account, however, when I choose 'stop following this user', nothing happens and they remain under my reading list. This is very frustrating. Has anyone dealt with this before and have a fix?

I'd obviously go to the Google forums, but they don't seem to ever respond or care.

:banghead:

So it hasn't worked for others for quite some time either?!

I wonder what my options are....

Having a Blogger account doesn't provide any additional method of unfollowing a blog. The only things available are to "Add as a friend", "Send a message", or "Block this user".

Thanks Corrine, how would I go about blocking a user on blogger? I don't want to see this person my reading list any longer, and if I have to block to do that, I guess that's what I will need to do.

This is why I use WordPress. There are widgets/extensions/plugins you can use to do many things. Although there are more available if you host your WordPress installation on your own domain. I have some on their own domains and others through WordPress.com online ones.

I also have a single Blogspot/Blogger Blog too. :D

It is the other way around, Patrick. The blog owner can block followers. Thus, as in the link LilBambi posted, if you wanted to block someone who was listed as a follower of your blog, from the Dashboard, you could block that follower.

When I started my blog, I tried both WordPress and Blogger. At that time, the editing capabilities of the Blogger template were much better on Blogger.

That was so true back then Corrine. Totally understand why you went with Blogger. I did too actually. I also manually had to bring over my old Blogger blog post by post, because the exporter at that time in 2003-2005 was so bad that it bunged up the export to the point it wouldn't import it into Wordpress right.

Some of my blog postings still have the tag on it where I mentioned that the article was from my old bunged Blogger blog or words to that effect. I am sure they have gotten better at it, but who knows.

I also didn't do something that I should have done and it cost me for a while too. If you ever move your blog, keep your old blog location! Don't let it go! It will get used by someone that will keep the name and fill the blog with malware! I ended up having to talk to Blogger and prove who I was and tell them that the person who took my old blog name was hosting malware and bad links.

It was a nightmare till they finally said, OK, we will take the blog down and not allow anyone to use the name. I agreed that was best. I have a totally different blogger blog that I haven't used in eons, Bambi Blog ... Corrine, you will likely remember all that G+ stuff back there. ;)

Oh, yes, I very definitely remember the G+ stuff. I left it behind long ago. (Which reminded me to check. Remember M3 Sweatt? He did finally get the idiots to understand that is the name he goes by.) (I still miss you on FB.)

Thanks! I definitely miss you and other friends, and family too! But I don't miss FB. ;)

I remember M3 Sweatt too. Glad he finally got them to allow the name he goes by. They let me than turned around disallowed it again, several times. I just gave up.

Forgive me for resurrecting this thread but I would like to note that Google seems to have FINALLY and THANKFULLY fixed this issue. I tried to unfollow this user in question the other day and I was able to. Rejoice!
