[SOLVED] Stuck with Win 10 Pro 1809

I am on Win 10 Pro 1809 17763.475 and I want to upgrade to the latest.

Upgrade with Windows10Upgrade9252 - installs then uninstalls itself
Upgrade in place with MediaCreationTool21H2 - installs then uninstalls itself
Microsoft Store loads but no product pages work

SO I've tried all the usual stuff:
chkdsk /f - Completes no issues
sfc /scannow - fails at 28%
dism reports errors
dism /scannow - fails
dism /restorehealth - fails
dism /startcomponentcleanup - completes but doesn't fix anything
dism side by side sxs restorehealth from iso - fails
sfcfix - 'something has gone horribly wrong'

most of the failures above are something like "WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed files resource table" or something like that.

I get errors for in windows:
Acgeneral.dll and Windows.Web.dll saying "either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error... etc"

And looking at CBS log I found:
Error c000a2a7 for ntsystem.cpp
Store corruption detected in function ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout for storelayout.cpp (I think this accounts for why Microsoft store pages don't load)

I'm hoping I can just replace the above stuff and have it fixed. Let me know if I should attach any logs. Thanks so much for the help!


EDIT: thought I should add that I imaged the drive with acronis and copied to a second drive and I'm testing the repairs on that second drive - so I'm open to more risky solutions if that makes any difference.

Have you considered getting a Version 1809 ISO, Performing a Windows 10 or 11 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows ISO file using that 1809 ISO, then, afterward, trying to do the same with a 21H2 ISO?

That's what I'd be doing if performing a direct feature update to 21H2 with the ISO file for same just keeps rolling back. If the repair install with the 1809 ISO doesn't work, then I'd open a topic on the Windows Update forum as some deep digging will be necessary.

I posted here because I was hoping to get a sfcfix script to fix my dism/sfc errors, but maybe the update forum would be more appropriate? Maybe a mod could weigh in on that as I don't was to seem like I'm spamming subs around here.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
6. SFCFix will now process the script.
7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.
