Hello everybody,

I'm french so sorry for my english.

I launched a sfc / scannow, and the resultat is : "the protection of Windows resources detected corrupted files, but could not repair some of them", and ditto after restarting

However, in the CBS log file, there is no "cannot repair" only "warning" like this one for example :

2020-04-16 12:46:54, Info CSI 00000263 Warning: Overlap: Directory \??\C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\ is owned twice or has its security set twice
Original owner: Microsoft-Windows-shell32, version 10.0.18362.719, arch Host= amd64 Guest= x86, nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}
New owner: Microsoft-Windows-shell32, version 10.0.18362.719, arch Host= amd64 Guest= x86, nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}

I too launched :

- chkdsk, no problem found
- DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Scanhealth, No damage to the component store was detected
- DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Checkhealth, No damage to the component store was detected

Can you help me, please ? I would like to understand the cause of this problem and resolve it.
What is this error : "is owned twice or has its security set twice" ?

Thank you in advance.

PS : Attached, my log CBS

Hello LauraMarconi and welcome. 🖖
French or Italian? ;-P

You can safely ignore that message...
Did you re-try the sfc /scannow command?
If it says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations, there are no problems.
Otherwise, I'll move this thread/topic in the windows update sub-forum.

Hello xilolee and thank you !

Lol, no problem, french. My nickname is the name of a manga character.

Yes, I did it twicem and the resultat is always : "the protection of Windows resources detected corrupted files, but could not repair some of them".

Hi!

It has barely been 24 hours since my reply. Bear in mind that we are volunteers.

The logs do not indicate an issue.

I would recommend that you perform an upgrade:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.
