Hi,

My laptop at log on & after wake up from sleep ran extremely slowly and most of the initial programs I ran, ended up as 'Not Responding' ensuring everything froze to the state the machine by pressing & holding the power button.
My system details are posted at the base of this mail.

Knowing something was amiss, I googled & googled to seek a resolution. Somewhere along the line, I tried to repair my computer. It failed, and the failure brought me to SFC /Scannow.

This I did and it failed at 41%.

I went into safe mode and it again failed at 41%

I ran chkdsk & some segments could not be fixed but after running sfc /scannow again, it got to 91% and failed. (I do have this .txt file)

I then came across a solution posted by Go the Power who's post directed me to this website;
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/4736-windows-update-forum-posting-instructions.html

I ran the SFCFix program, but still have the errors outlined below and in the attached.

Having followed these instructions I am now following the instructions under the paragraph entitled 'Create new topic'

I hope I have completed this as well as you all expect

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe; To extract you can right-click your mouse on the GSmartControl.zip file and select Extract.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);
