sfc /scannow error - Cannot repair file Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB

That link points to a thread which describes almost the exact same problem I am having: an sfc scan fails to repair the CNBJ2530.DPB file. Hashes don't match.

I'd probably have this fixed already, but you guys are on the "specific fix for specific problem" kick and I can't download the SFCFix.zip file from the linked page to copy over to SFCFix.exe - which I ran by itself. It finds corruptions, but then attempts to run a dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth which freezes at 40% (which I already knew would happen; left one running overnight previously, stayed at 40% all night).

I'll include my CBS.log file here so you guys can create a SFCFix.zip file for me. Unless it deals with the hashes, you might also think about leaving the file public so that someone else with this exact problem will not have to create another thread to solve this problem. If it deals with the hashes, though, I understand the need.

Either that, or you could detail what, exactly, the program is doing so someone reading this thread four years from now can simply do it themselves (e.g. changing permissions, copying files, etc.).

Hello and welcome,

Never use a fix that is ment for another machine. It is always better to create a new thread.

Follow the instructions below please.

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.

  • Download

SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Worked. sfc ran successfully afterward, no problems. Thank you for your assistance.

Not to be difficult, but I'm curious: had I been able to download the file from that other thread, it would have done the exact same thing as this one, yes?

It is the same file in that other thread.
Beware of other directives in a fix and the instructions from a helper. These are some reasons not to use someone's else fix.

Are there other issues we need to look at ?

Oh, I know. Arbitrarily using a fix that appears to be a solution can lead to more problems - if you don’t know what you’re doing/are not careful. I totally understand you guys covering your butts by advising not to do that, though. Saves headaches down the line.

And no, that was all I needed. Thank you again.

Your welcome.
This thread will be marked as solved.
