I have a Windows 7 Ultimate x86 with SP1 using an SSD drive machine and SFC is not working on or offline (Always errors with ""Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" ") and I have tried every trick to fix W7 updating. I am a 20 year tech and this is my machine. I have tried a recovery overwrite of windows and it always fails and tells me to reboot and try again. The Windows overwrite seems to have a pending update or file rename operation pending but I have worked for two days and pretty much exhausted the internet help on that. I get 80073712 error on trying windows updating everytime. I have chkdsked and run the MS update fix utility and the System Update Readiness tool without any joy. I have restored to earlier restore points and even used the registry backup folder to manually go back to the older registry files. I can boot to windows and have malwarebyte'd and Hitman Pro'ed it. I have cleaned the registry with two different tools without success. I used Tweaking.com's Windows Repair 4.8.0 fixing and still no change. So bottom line is I need to SFC my windows files and fix the Windows Updating function and probably a overthetop Windows reinstall. I believe it is clean but Running Sophos Malware scan now. PLEASE HELP ME B 4 I TAKE A DIRT NAP!!

Does MS have a rule to NOT let anyone overwrite install Windows 7 anymore?

So I tried SFCFix and the log file is:

yes but its only 8k, so its not valid? There are also 3 component logs and THREE HUNDRED files like COMPONENTS{00d68559-3284-11ea-a416-f04da2f3d7c0}.TM.blf , COMPONENTS{00d68559-3284-11ea-a416-f04da2f3d7c0}.TMContainer00000000000000000001.regtrans-ms , and COMPONENTS{00d68559-3284-11ea-a416-f04da2f3d7c0}.TMContainer00000000000000000002.regtrans-ms (duplicate), with different names starting with COMPONENTS. I been reading DISM repair procedures but never have done and on Windows 7 not likely to rebuild?

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY

No, the machine is damaged beyond repair. This is not fixable unless you have an earlier backup of the machine we can use with a working hive (it's system specific, so we can't use another one from a different system).
