Hello:

I discovered the forum searching Google for help in overcoming some Windows Update errors I was experiencing. In proceeding through the steps offered here, SFCFix identified 95 corruptions and indicated some of them were unable to be automatically corrected. The log file it produced doesn't seem to have any useful information, which seemed confusing, but I've copy-pasted below:

---------

SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.

Any assistance the good members of the forum can offer is genuinely appreciated.

Thanks. Sorry for overlooking the final steps of the Posting Instructions. The log file can be found using WeTransfer below:

It came out to 308 MB. History prior to running SCFix:

I installed Hotfix as part of the steps prior to running SCFix in attempting to resolve the failures on KB4516655, KB4524752, and KB4516065. I understand the optional USB and NVIDIA driver updates could be due to already having more recent drivers installed and wasn't concerned about those.

*** Will re-booted again.

When attempting to install received the prompt that KB4474419 is already installed on this computer.

Thanks for the info. Please do the following.

1. Click your Start button and type cmd in the search box. Right-click on cmd from the search results and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes if the UAC prompt comes up.
2. Copy/Paste the following in to the command-prompt window and hit enter.
wmic qfe list brief /format:texttablewsys > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\hotfix.txt"

3. This will create a file on your desktop named hotfix.txt. Please attach this to your next reply.

Thanks. I've attached the hotfix.txt file.

I did notice yesterday when downloading from the Windows site that they will be discontinuing support in 2020. Didn't feel like spending the $199 for a license. How can I get it for free?

Using Media Creation Tool:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

Go ahead and try it.

I'm off for the night.

OK. Followed the instructions and ran the Media Creation Tool then accepted the License Agreement.

When you say to "Download the ISO file" I am assuming I should select the option "Create Installation Media" when presented with the choice to "Upgrade This PC now" or "Create Installation Media".

Just wanted to confirm.

OK Thanks. When I double-click the ISO file it doesn't provide an option to run setup. It just creates an interface that requires me the select a CD-ROM drive to burn the ISO file to.
