Yeah hi after being stupid and defragging my registry my computer went crazy and black screened for awhile then it took about 30 mins - 1 hour to finally boot up and be somewhat usuable. Now when I try to open up files or games or multiple tabs my computer basically freezes and stuff stops responding for about a couple minutes. I don't know what I did but I must of royally messed something up. It won't even allow me to paste my CBS log to my desktop. Is there something else I could do ?

Hello mrfrosty, welcome to Sysnative!

niemiro and I both have an exam tomorrow so I'll have to keep this quick, I'm in between past papers right now :p

Your CBS log shows these files as corrupt:

It also lists quite a few manifest errors so before we repair these files, I would like to check the manifests. Download and install the System Update Readiness Tool:

Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2013] from Official Microsoft Download Centre

Keep it safe, we'll need it again. When it finishes installing, post the log please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Hi mrfrosty,

Okay, no issues there - they are being incorrectly reported.

Files to repair:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\InstallShield\_isdel.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\ie9props.propdesc

SFCFix Script

I hope I did that correctly.

Does this mean it won't take 30 minutes to boot up and regularly freeze? Also.. Did I do any permanent damage :s

Hopefully! Let's double check:

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

:s it didn't work. I tried restarting to how that went and I got stuck on the Windows Logo screen for awhile finally got passed that then I got a black screen w/ no cursor. finally got passed that and I got a black screen w/ a cursor and it booted up veryyyyy slowly after that I finally got to the desktop screen and it was very slowly booting up then as well. :/ it's basically square one :c

Hi mrfrosty,

That fix successfully repaired the file corruption on your system which is great, but it sounds like there's a few more issues to sort out.

Can you boot into the recovery environment, and launch command prompt please: How to use the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt

When command prompt is launched, type in the following command and press enter:

DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

Then reboot your computer, booting into Windows normally, and post your CBS log again please.
