[SOLVED] Several apps won't run or crash immediately

I am running Windows 10. Windows updates stopped working and several application don't start at all or start and close 1 second later (VS2017 for example).

What I have done:
* I ran sfc /scannow and I continuously get "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation".
* I ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and got "wof driver encountered a corruption in the compressed files resource table"
* I ran SFCFix but it crashed. SFCFix.txt mentions an "unhandled exception".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Forgot to mention: I ran GSmartControl and found no issue:

I did a in-place upgrade: SFC and DISM report no errors and windows update is working now.

However several apps are still crashing even after a reinstall. Any hint?

After updating all VC redistributables everything works fine :)
