Hello Sysnative Techs,
I'm trying to install last cumulative updates on a Windows 2022 Server without success, I keep getting error 0x80073701 from Windows Update.
In the CBS.log I see that the issue is caused by this update : Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~20348.2322.1.271 but I can't uninstall it... Tried "sfc /scannow", DISM and ComponentScanner but could not find any corruption.
You'll find the requested logs at the following URL : Free Transfert
Thank you much for your help :-)

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hello Maxstar, and thanks for handling my case :)
You'll find the COMPONENTS.zip attached to this message.
Thanks again !

Afterwards attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Hi Maxstar, thanks for this :) It got a little farther still could not complete.
You'll find the SFCFix.txt and CBS.zip at this URL : Free Transfert
Thanks again !

Please open an elevated command prompt, run the following command and copy and paste the result in your next post.
Code:
certutil -hashfile C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\amd64_microsoft-onecore-u..m-udiapi-deployment_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.20348.1_none_6637d9ad54be9d32.manifest SHA256

Hi Maxstar, it seems I don't have this file... :(
Here is the output :
Code:
PS C:\Users\Administrateur> certutil -hashfile C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\amd64_microsoft-onecore-u..m-udiapi-deployment_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.20348.1_none_6637d9ad54be9d32.manifest SHA256
CertUtil : -hashfile ÉCHEC de la commande : 0x80070002 (WIN32: 2 ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
CertUtil: Le fichier spécifié est introuvable.

Are you sure this is the right filename ? I've launched another DISM /RestoreHealth but it seems it couldn't get this file back.

Thanks in advance !

Here's the next fix, but DISM will fail with error 2 I think.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Here's the next fix, but run DISM again with Process Monitor running.

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Run the following DISM command.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the square (CTRL +E) on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up the LogFile.PML and upload it to https://wetransfer.com and provide the link.
6. Attach also the latest CBS logs for the time stamps.
